Always incorrect version. Help. Now.

Bought this game today, and WAS NOT ABLE TO PLAY, not even get into a map. All because every single server is either using a different version OR it has some kind of file that I'm missing.

Can steam not update the game itself?

To get the game updated (from: ARMA2_OA_Build_103419.zip) to the latest version (ARMA2_OA_Build_103718.zip), every time i try to patch it it says "WRONG CD KEY" every damned time.

I tried DayzCommander, as i filtered it to not show Locked (password) servers and do not show servers that don't meet my version, i got 0 Hits, Not a single bloody server is available to me.

You can clearly see i am extremely frustrated and am one step away from dropping F bombs all over the place, first Standalone got postponed and now i can't even play a single game on any server with the Arma 2 Dayz Mod.

Yes i am running "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Beta" as i try to play the game (saw it as one of the "solutions" to fixing this version mess-up) as every other game launcher failed, i tried playing via "Arma 2" nothing "Arma 2: Dayz Mod" nothing "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead" nothing.

As i run DayZCommander the first thing that pops up says: "It doesn't appear you have Arma2 Combined Operations installed and/or you have not started the game manually first. Would you like to purchase Arma2 Combined Operations right now?"

1. I ran Both "Arma 2" and "Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead" before even installing "Arma 2: DayZ Mod" via steam.

2. I BOUGHT "Arma 2: Combined Operations" via steam already and now it's asking me to buy it again? W.T.F.

Can someone tell me what the devil is going on and how to i fix this so i can play already and not feel like I've just flushed 20 Euros (Arma 2: Combined Operations) down the toilet?

I don't get it.

It's always worked fine for me. And I've installed it 3 separate times (due to me fucking around with things)

Try uninstalling everything, and deleting all steam your ARMA steam folders, reinstalling ARMA II and then installing ARMA II:OA. Run both again (until you get to the menu).

Then, download DayZ commander and install the DayZ mod (and Arma Beta Patch) through that.

On top of what's already been said - the standalone wasn't postponed, we went from having no idea when it was going to be released to being told that they would review the situation (i.e. potentially set a date for release) in June.

Cool, well it sounds like you're nearly there. Most of us have had similar issues at some point in the past so we understand your frustrations. There's many here willing to spend a lot of their free time helping peeps like you get up and running but just remember that they aren't obligated to, sometimes a please or a thankyou can go a long way.

Good luck, you'll be getting shot in the face by bandits in no time.

Alright, here is how you can guarantee you are going to have the same setup as most of the people who are going to be throwing suggestions at you:

1. Delete both ArmA II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead.

2. Completely exit Steam.

3. Re-run Steam as Administrator.

4. Reinstall both ArmA II and ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead. No picture, I'm not sitting through a reinstall.

5. Go to DayZComander, then go to Install/update.

6. Update everything, in the following order:

• DayZCommander (If there's an update, restart)
  
• ArmA II (Beta patch)
  
• DayZ
  
• (Optional) Any DayZ addons you wish to play.
  

Following those steps, you will either have fixed your problem or made it much easier for the person trying to fix it for you.

Perhaps people would be more inclined to help you if you were not so demanding and a little less rude... this is a free mod and the people here help of their own free will and if you look at Rage VG previous posts he has helped hundreds of people taking up his own time to do so...

Yes i understand that too but... How much does politeness cost??? or a search on the

"WRONG CD KEY"

The reason hes not getting anywhere is because the cd key hasn't been inserted into the registry something thats been beaten to death on here with retail and steam versions

You delete both because that's the only way to guarantee you don't have any modified/missing files. If you have different files from someone else, you're going to get different results from doing the same thing, which of course makes troubleshooting significantly harder. DayZCommander has always been far simpler than manual installs, so from a troubleshooting standpoint, it's the ideal thing to do.

Played for 7 hours straight (would've played for the usual 10+ hours but i haven't slept for 36+ hours) got into a ton of epic and memorable events including meeting a new friendly buddy on a server and working to build our car after which we filled it up and fixed it up so much that it's a Holy Grail of loot on wheels (meds, food, drinks, ammo, weapons, tools).

In short, a TON of excitement. :) Thanks to all of you guys!
