Melee Weapons - Hatchet

I was having a blast there hacking some zombies with my hatchet, it was a little hard at first to get used to it, but I did get used to it and was able to sneak up on a zombie or two and kill them without getting hit once, there were a few occasions were I did get hit etc. But all in all it was good fun and with a few more tweaks here and there regarding damage and what have you, I think it will be a thouroughly fun addition to DayZ, afterall i'm sure you'd have a hatchet lying around somewhere or i'm sure some Russians do saying the game is set in a Russian area.

Heck, we have a few hatchets lying around in our garage if a zombie apocalypse hits...

Anyway, what's everyones thoughts on the hatchets apart from the obvious bugs (Making zombies fly for instance.)

Way over powered tbh. Run backwards and when the zombie makes a hit, that's when u hit just after. Couple of swings and they should be dead or find a building and hack away (just remember to back off out of their reach). You can even get head shots with them. I don't think Arma is suited for H2H and because it's silent, you won't attract hordes like a gun so you'll only have a handful of Z's to deal with.

Not only that but Z's, whilst able to see more are useless at getting you. Run through a town at spawn, get 10 chasing you, then start running in circles, try chasing a zombie as well (it's hilarious) and you can pretty much do that all day long if ur careful. Even just running backwards will do. Run into a big city like Cherno and dodge through alleys and streets and you'll loose them and any stragglers you can kill with the Hatchet, making it the only weapon you really need.

Now I've sussed out the Zed's, they're just comical now. Just run into a city and don't bother with stealth, just use the hatchet.
