At DayZInfection we firmly believe that the people that put their time into development of scripts for the community deserve credit for all of that hard work, so I have put together this thread describing each of the added scripts that we use, who the original author was, and what changes we have made to those scripts to make DayZInfection a bit more unique.

Please keep in mind that changes to the scripts listed here change frequently based on player input and administrative decisions in an attempt to create the most enjoyable atmosphere in the game. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with certain scripts or script settings and I apologize if you are unhappy about certain features, but please keep in mind that we try our best to cater to the majority.

Sarge's AI Framework

Sarge's AI Framework is an amazing series of script work that controls most of the artificial intelligence found on the DayZInfection server. Sarge has kindly shared his work with the community and in my opinion, the community benefits significantly because of it.

The ground troops, consisting of Survivors, Soldiers, and Bandits are controlled by Sarge's AI Framework. The groups have special group abilities that make them more 'tactical' like the ability to ambush players or fortify buildings. They will fire on zombies and each other, and of course the Bandit groups will fire on players as well, as will other groups if your Humanity is low enough.

Helicopter patrols are also controlled by Sarge's AI Framework. Helicopter patrols watch a specific area of the map and also have their own special AI abilities. Watch out for these patrols - they are dangerous.

Many changes have been made to the default AI Framework settings in order to customize the NPCs on the server. Because of the considerable number of changes, and the regular tweaks being made to get it where we want it, I will post updates in the AI thread instead of this one.

Animated Helicopter Crashes

Grafzahl has provided a brilliant script to the community which allows the removal of the standard spawning crash sites and instead adds in beautifully animated helicopter crashes. Now you can see the helicopters explode in the air and crash the the ground, leaving behind a crash site with all the usual loot, etc.

At DayZInfection, we have set up customized waypoints and crash sites, 215 in all. Helicopters will travel to multiple random waypoints before heading to their destination crash site, so players can never count on a helicopter crash site being in the same place!

These helicopters are different than the AI patrol helicopters that are part of the AI framework. These we are calling Transport Helicopters - they will not fire on players and they move very fast.

If you don't want to try to find a crash site, you can always create one of your own! The helicopters are vulnerable to player attacks and can be shot down. Wherever they crash, a crash site will be created by the script.

Customizations include 215 waypoints and crash sites meaning there are over 1.5 billion possible paths for these helicopters to take from start to crash. The vulnerability of the helicopters is currently set at 50% (due to their speed), so it is possible to take them down.

Self Bloodbag

The self bloodbag script allows a player to use a bloodbag on himself from the scroll menu when a blood bag is in the inventory. Thanks to Player2, there is also a chance of infection when used this way.

On DayZInfection, the self bloodbag works nicely, but is not as effective as if somebody else does a bloodbag process on a player. But hey, it's nice in a pinch! The chance of infection is also slightly higher when using a bloodbag on yourself. I won't say what that chance is, as I change it periodically to keep things changing. It's usually between 10-30%.

Tent Sleep

Krixes brings another great script to the community with the Tent Sleep. This script allows a player to sleep in a tent that he owns through an option in the scroll menu.

On DayZInfection, when you choose this option you are unable to do anything else for just under a minute while you sleep. Sleeping will restore a significant amount of blood to your character. You can only sleep once every 10 minutes.

Auto-Refuel

The auto-refuel script allows a vehicle to refuel from the scroll menu without filling up jerry cans when a vehicle is near a fuel tank.

DayZInfection chose to implement this script due to the larger vehicles that can take a ridiculous amount of time to refuel with jerry cans. Since you can now be hit through the vehicles, this task is even more annoying when running back and forth with jerry cans.

Fast Roping

The Fast Rope script allows a rope to be dropped from helicopters by the pilot, which passengers can then use from the scroll menu to slide down the rope to the ground. The rope is currently 20 meters long, so do not attempt to slide down the rope when the helicopter is more than 20 meters off the ground or you will likely die.

Street Lights and House Lighting

Two scripts we have implemented thanks to Axeman. Street Lights adds actual light to street lights around Chernarus, providing additional site at night. House Lighting adds random lights to random houses and buildings.

We decided to implement these scripts along with our own Full Moon Nights in order to create a more enjoyable night experience without removing it altogether. Axeman's scripts create very interesting and creepy shadows everywhere which adds an interesting and unexpected addition to the game.

These two scripts are unaltered by DayZInfection.
