How do I equip my weapon? Huge noob here...

Hello, I looked at the thread with all the controls, but it did not show me how to actually equip a weapon. I recently found a hunting knife, and have no idea how to use it...I press "F" and it only cycles through my flashlight and bottles to throw. I press ";" and nothing happens. Help! Sorry if this is mentioned in another thread.

cant use hunting knife a weapon mate, only melee weapons are a crowbar and a hatchet atm and there really bugged

The latest beta-buildis testing hatchets as melee weapons, however the hunting knife is currently only for gutting wild or farm animals.

and how do you equip the hatchet? i was being chased by 4 zeds and found one in a shed, couldnt for the life of me work out how to equip the damn thing?!
