Dayz:SA should just take Origins Building Ideas.

Recommended Posts

I have quickly searched around the forums seeing if anyone else has suggested this, but I did not see anyone so I thought why not see what others think.

I personally think the Dayz Origins Mod has really figured out the whole concept of "base" building. I like the idea of having to find a blueprint, gather the materials, set the foundation and wait, then set the rest of your house. I feel like this is a basic idea of how the stand alone should do it. Yes they could for sure add more types of buildings, get rid of some of the glitches in it and possibly make it a little harder but its still a good start.

I know, not very much of an infomation post just wondering if other people like the idea or would rather the stand alone do it another way

Definitely. I think it should require a lot of teamwork too. The end game model of the Standalone should take the conception that we could rebuild 'civilization' with these houses/bases

Above ground construction isn't being added for the sole reason that after a few weeks servers would be filled with thousands of buildings and it would take half an hour to download the map and connect to a server for the first time as well as having a detrimental effect on performance on the whole.

Underground (instanced) construction is being added instead.

Thank you, A few days ago I walked upon an actual player made city in the woods! There was about 10 houses, one guy even had a trading shop in one of his houses. I loved this so much because these players accutally worked together, built a town and kept it occupied. They had a "wall", even security shifts! I totally think this is how end game should be in Dayz Standalone

All the Origins servers I have played on, very few people have houses and the maps take very little time to load. I am sure admins could always have a way to delete inactive houses or even a way for admins to check the last time a house was used. I have read about Underground construction is going to be added, I just dont know how really.

The standalone is likely to have quite a few more players than Origins, I imagine the map would become a lot more cluttered.

I don't really see any point in above ground construction anyway, there are quite a few buildings in Chernarus, I think in a real apocalypse people would just fortify them instead of building a house. :S

That is very true, Just saying what i've known from experience.

I agree on your second point, I know it will never happen but that is what I would do if zombies ever did walk the earth. I would find an easily securable house in a decent sized town ( ie: I am Legend)

No new buidings. It would be cool if they can be destroyed/burned to the groud, so you can rebuild then. But remember more noise = more Zs :3

Has been talked to death :

the suggestions are : 1. free base building like in DayZ Origin (will not happen), 2. fortifying existing places by building barricades, blocking doors and stuff and 3. using predefined areas for bases and camps....

cheers

PS: I personnally would prefer barricading buildings (temporary) and using predefined areas for larger camps/bases (rollplaying) since this is what would happen in RL and this is also what we see in shows like The Walking Dead ( Woodbury; Prison, Hershel's farm).
