mikey416hr 0 Posted April 13, 2013 OK i don't know if anyone has posted about this but the ability to add weapon attachments to certain guns would be awesome. just adding a sight to an Enfield would be cool. and silencers to military weapons without needing sd ammo would be cool too. just a suggestion
luxifergrim (DayZ) 19 Posted April 13, 2013 Arma 3 has this, I hope they bring it to the standalone too.
Chris529 380 Posted April 13, 2013 stuff like this is almost certain to be in the standalone
aHzdaNny 49 Posted April 13, 2013 They've talked about weapon attachments in several of the development videos posted previously. I advise you to check out this section of the forum or, more recently, this specific thread.
TheDesigner 1197 Posted April 13, 2013 I think he means for DayZ, not the SA. From an inexperienced point of view, I think it would be possible for DayZ. Clunky, but possible. You'd have to add new weapon models, but it could be something like changing skins. You find a green packet that says "Holographic sight", press use, and it switches your gun model from, say, M4A1 to an M4A1_Holo.

-Gews- 7443 Posted April 13, 2013 you know that silencers are useless without SD ammo right? so what's the point of adding them? You generally don't use "SD" ammo with a 5.56 silencer. If you did it wouldn't cycle the action reliably.just adding a sight to an Enfield would be coolYou need a special scope mount, either original or aftermarket, you can't just pop it on and off. One of the things which irritates me about ArmA 3 is how I can just pick up a telescopic sight and put it on my rifle instantly, no tools, no waiting, the rifle doesn't even need to be the same caliber or type, it just magically "works"... way too video-gamey for a simulator, I actually don't like that feature. It could work at the start of a mission when choosing a loadout, but it irritates me in-game. They'd have to find some reasonably realistic way of portraying it. At least require the player to have a toolbox or something, and make it take a couple minutes.

Maybe they've got the technology to just snap on and off attachments without the need to screw 'em in. And maybe something'll be done in full release. taco241 393 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) Most guns have a picatinny or weaver style scope rings and bases. They're pretty interchangeable, and sometimes tool-less.But, every time you put a new sight on a gun (or even remount a scope you had on a gun before) you'll need to hit the range and do some adjusting/calibrating to get the bullet where you're looking.I have to sight my slug gun in every year when I put the red-dot sight on, turning a duck gun into a deer slugger. Usually I can get it on target again without too much trouble but a completely new scope could be totally out of whack. I've shot as much as 30-40 rounds just to get a new one consistently on target. And that was after a quick laser bore-sighting.Overall though, I don't think scope-swapping is a practical thing for this game.Maybe the option to remove one would be ok, or taping on flashlights is fine.
