Zombie Attraction and Distraction

A pretty prominent trope in zombie media is zombies being attracted by noise, like the concert finale from Left 4 Dead 2 or that girl with the climbing pick from Telltale's Walking Dead game using church bells to draw zombies away from her destination.

Now, there are churches with bell towers in almost (if not all) every town in Chernarus. We could use this to attract a large horde of zombies. We have tin cans lying everywhere, which could be more useful for distracting two or three of them. If you think about it, the possibilities are endless. Throwing a can at someone to get a few zombies attacking them, ringing a church bell while bandits are around, and probably a lot of other things that I don't feel like thinking of.

Bells are a fucking good idea ^^ i imagine the beginners " hey, let's ring the bell trololol .... SHiiiiiiit"

Even if actually allowing players to ring bells wasn't possible, the hourly chimes should attract zeds to the church/town hall etc

and have that as a medium rarity equipment area to make the attraction sort of worth it.

indeed, it would have the added bonus of getting a player out of the shit if say he was trapped in a nearby building with a couple of zeds shuffling in, the sound of the bells could cause them to turn and head towards the source.

Although they wont be shuffling in anymore unfortunately. ='( Was an easy tactic to get away from them though so its a good thing. Plus its going to be easier to kill zombies in a way as well.

Hello there

With no power/people to manipulate the bells this would be a little unrealistic, but I love the idea of bells chiming on the quarter, half and hour to attract any zeds to the church and perhaps make them non violent during this time for a brief period.

IMHO a sterling idea.

To enlarge on it. The timscales that the zeds would also be different for each event.

Quarter chimes are usually only one chime so would occupy the zeds for say 1 minute after the initial ring.

Half hour chimes are longer but the exact amount depends on the clock so perhaps a two minute lul/cessation of aggro.

Full hourly are different in length depending on the time. So the midnight/noon chime would be the best time for looting as it would give the longest cessation of hostilities. But everyone in the vicinity would know that so the town once again becomes deadly but only from players.

Perhaps a mechanic could also be put in place whereby user with a toolkit could alter the time, so it would not necessarily match up with game time.
