maninthewall 470 Posted April 7, 2013 Please let's all be mature When you press any numbers you get that " Status, Reply " option which is not used for dayz, my suggestion is that we make it a default speaking menu with words like "Hello" "Do you need help?" "I'm friendly" "Yes / No" "Goodbye" "Follow me" "Stop" etc.. And no google translate voice, let's have the voice you chose in character customization I thought this might be good for the guys who don't have a mic/who wants to use quick answersThoughts? Mos1ey 6301 Posted April 7, 2013 I want to say I like this idea but I think anything that encourages people to play DayZ without a microphone is inherantly bad, lol.
maninthewall 470 Posted April 7, 2013 I want to say I like this idea but I think anything that encourages people to play DayZ without a microphone is inherantly bad, lol.Agreed, but there are WAY too many people don't use mics in DayZ. They either don't have mics or they don't speak english. I think this idea is good either way
person915 345 Posted April 7, 2013 I think it's a good idea, because it gives everyone a "microphone" so you don't have to hear all the feedback and crap all the time. I would even go so far as to disable VON and VOIP and have this feature instead, acting as VON and VOIP. It makes it so also no one can be like, "Yeah, the guy who just killed me is..." "There's a sniper at...." "Camp at..." "ZOMG fra fra fool la loop I'ma kid playin' DayZ listen to Gangnam Style guize it sounds so coolz.... pro!" "[insert cursewords here]" "[insert your mom jokes here]" "[insert stupid ragekid or otherwise insignificant argument here]" "[insert annoying sexual innuendos here]" See what I'm getting at? Mos1ey 6301 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) It's true. I can never be arsed to use my mic when I play L4D with random people and the voice commands are useful.I don't like that it would encourage people to not use a mic though.I think it's a good idea, because it gives everyone a "microphone" so you don't have to hear all the feedback and crap all the time. The standalone probably won't have a side or global channel though. Edited April 7, 2013 by mZLY

Hopefully the the keys are reconfigurable so I can use them for something else (they aren't in ArmA/DayZ mod) Edited April 7, 2013 by smasht_AU

I think this idea is good either wayI would make the things the OP is talking about in the language the game is set to. So people who don't speak english can understand themselves, and people who do when encountering those who don't will get:
Mos1ey 6301 Posted April 7, 2013 ManInTheWall is the OP. xD
person915 345 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) ManInTheWall is the OP. xDI generally don't pay attention to user names unless they are in cyan.Edit: I feel like it makes my posts less biased but also encounters some problems with how I can respond to a post. It all comes down to that it's just how I do things. Edited April 7, 2013 by McCullins
edzus234 4 Posted April 7, 2013 Well it would be realy the same thing as those buttons are used for, arma 2 players will know that they are used fore voice communicating through radio, giving orders etc. This idea, I think, would be perfect, also it shouldn't need a llot of work to do, just some messing around with scripts and arma 2 engine. BwobBwub 660 Posted April 7, 2013 I made a suggestion like this earlier. It will help the 'non-mic' users.http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/124199-direct-comms-quick-chat/
