Never 237 Posted June 19, 2012 Remove murders leaderboard' date=' keep survival time, zombies killed and bandits killed.. That should fix noob killing on the beaches.[/quote']Why bandits killed and not survivors killed? Why reward one playstyle over another?Because this communities got its head so far up its ass that apparently one playstyle is nasty and bad and should be punished (see 'heartbeats'). Even though the boards of are of people crying about getting killed by other survivors.Nothing wrong with killing people. But theres something not right about directly or indirectly encouraging it. Murder someone and get +1 murders. I am failing to see sthe problem here.

"That should fix noob killing on the beaches." Im all for moving the leaderboards (all of them) but im replying to the OP which complained about noobs getting killed because of the murder leaderboard. qbert 4 Posted June 19, 2012 Can we have killstreaks and care packages next? I mean, it'd be in context with leaderboards right?

bptrav 0 Posted June 19, 2012 All leaderboards do is encourage underhand players to cheat their way to the top of them. Bin them now.I have to agree with this. From my experience with BF3 the leaderboards are always led by blatant hackers/cheaters anyway. They get removed from the list, but new hackers quickly replace them.A friends leaderboard could be cool though, or individual stats you can browse through. There's not even a friends system in the game though so they'd have to implement that first. :)
nahholmes 0 Posted June 19, 2012 Who cares about spawn camping and bandits in this case, within a month all the All-Time top spots will be cheaters and exploiters. You can camp noobs all day that isn't going to get you on leader boards. Have you guys ever played a game with a leader board before? Very few are legit. With the mod the way it is, it's going to be impossible to be legit. Some kid with way too much time on his hands and 2 copies of Arma will script a bot to farm his 2nd account all day just to be #1 murderer on a leader board. As unbelievable as this may seem I won't be a bit shocked if in a month there are "alive" "players" with 1000+ kills or almost persistant online "alive" time or thousands of miles walked in a circle off the map in a server with 2 players on it. Online game players can be truly pathetic when there is an exploitable way to say "I'm the best". I don't think it will ruin the game because of the way the boards are set up (where it's easier just to never interact with real players to exploit to the top), but it will probably make the leader boards moot and it certainly won't add any value to the game. Stumped as to why this exists...I assure you right now there is someone with 20 cans of bean and 10 canteens running laps off the map while AFK.
Buffalo_Soulja 3 Posted June 23, 2012 K3wl topic, TS rocks. The gameplay is a challenge by itself, do we really need that BF3 and CoD stuff here, in a survival game? Problem is - some kids could think 'OMG itz mah fckin chance to become famous, mama's gonna be proud of me' and spend their summertime in bushes near Cherno XD
Terrorfex 0 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm not a huge fan of leaderboards too. Also, i'm not a huge fan of all that "leave it to CoD / BF3" crap. Stop trying to pretend that you are a better person just because you play / like a different game.
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted June 23, 2012 Oh, hey, look. Another thread filled top-to-bottom with person after person telling me how I should play and what I should find important and what sorts of things should and should not make the game fun and interesting for me. All while claiming in chorus that THEY are the ones who truly understand what a sandbox game means. How about this amazingly novel idea? Take it for a spin in your head. If you are not interested in leaderboards and don't take any personal pride in being on them either because you are not interested or because you hold tightly to the misguided notion that only cheaters and exploiters will find their way on to them, then just don't fucking look at the leaderboards. Cheaters, hackers and scripters are going to do what they do regardless of the presence of a leaderboard. It's really not like there are people out there who aren't cheating right now every day who are going to suddenly see the leaderboard and go, "Oh, now I'm a cheater." Yeah, no. And even if it encourages a very small handful of people to try out a cheat, who cares? This is an Alpha test and routing out cheats and exploits is just as important as the other types of testing we're doing. Let the idiots try an exploit or two - their presence on the leaderboard will expose their deed, BE can be updated if necessary and another round of Global Bans can make the game cleaner for all of us.As for the people who say this will encourage murder, there's another leaderboard called survival time that should encourage you to try really hard to avoid being murdered. So everyone gets their own goals. You want very badly to stay alive and maybe I want very badly to stop that from happening and we both get to play the same game and set our own goals and do what we want kind of like a sandbox game is supposed to be, right?"Oh, no, it might encourage murder!" Oh, well. Woe is you. Hike up your diaper and wade back in, soldier. You'll be all right I promise.
