Basic questions

I have a few basic questions.

1. How do I toggle to third person?

2. How do I switch weapons? In controls it says ENTER is switch view but when I hit enter twice it switches weapons for me

1: I think it depends on the server. Some don't allow 3rd person I believe.

2:switching equiped weapons can be done with the "f" key or pressing wheel mouse button and then turn wheel to highlight what you want to do.

EDIT: Remember to use the hatchet you have to open gear by pressing the "g" button, click the hatchet and select remove from belt.

1. if the server allows, use enter key on the number pad to swap 1st and 3rd person view.(i rekeyed my logitech thumb mouse button to that enter fer easier use)

the f key allows to swap between fire modes fer your weapon and any grenades, chemlights, tin cans and flares.

the normal enter key can be used to open the action window. ie. if nothing else is under cursor, it will show just your weapon and if you click enter or lmb it will select that item. this is how you pick up items, bloodbag friends, or open doors.

yeh inventory is very confusing. check the stickies in this forum. got some really good info. once you get a handle on it, it isnt too bad but its horrible when you first start. just remember that your backpack is different than inventory and needs to be opened before you can put anything in it. and dont store a weapon in your starter pack cuz it will wont fit and might disappear unless its a handgun(main weapon takes 10 backpack slots and secondaries take 5, starter pack only has 8 slots)

Google "Dayz Wiki". There's lots of useful information there and you won't have to search the forums or wait for replies.

IDK if there is a way around it but I put an enfield loaded with ammo into my backpack and the ammo got deleted out of the rifle.
