How do you fight players in CQC?

Recommended Posts

I like to be nice to people; I don't immediately start shooting without a (in my opinion) good reason. But sometimes when I run up and say "Hi," the other person just opens fire... or I'm often caught in the open because when it comes to the forest areas, I let my guard down and stop looking left-and-right before crossing the street.

I've seen players do a lot of things when shot at:

1. Run into the nearest building to guard the door/combat log like an asshole

2. Drop prone, and usually get shot.

3. Panic and switch weapons or hit V and get shot.

My tactic is a very silly one, but seems to be effective; I run in wide circles around the other player until they have to reload.

So far I haven't been killed by this tactic, but I've been dropped to a few hundred blood and knocked unconscious. Surprisingly, I'm almost never killed after being knocked out, or even looted; it's like as soon as I go down, the attacker forgets I exist.

I'm sorry the video didn't show it very well (he basically stopped running and gave me an easy shot, the bugger), but I don't feel like hunting down all my videos for a good example.

So how do YOU take on other players, when they shoot first?

As for CQC (in buildings), I throw 1-2 flares at each door and let the zombies do the killing. If my helicopter was shot at and they're taking cover in a building, I'll ditch the helicopter and let it destroy the building they're in. I know it sounds like a waist, but... well, it is.

If satchel charges spawned more often, I'd use them to destroy buildings the other player is in. If frag grenades were more useful, I'd give hem room in my inventory (but they aren't so I don't).

For that specific scenario, Pretty much depends on what kind of weapon they have, If its a full auto weapon that I know would mow me down the second I turned to run, I'd pretty much go red dead revolver on them. First person to get the shot out wins. Nothing dancy, I mean, Anyone with a decent shot could hit you at point blank range. My main thing is to stay on the defensive though. I almost never actively engage someone. I've taken down entire groups before doing things along those lines. They want a fight? Well, they fight you on your terms. You pick the place. you pick how they're going to do it, You decide everything.

Just spam the motherfucker full auto :)

If the guy you are fighting against has an m14 or fn fal.. or any sort of bigger cal wep.. Circling around won't help, just get cover and spray that, when you go to cover try to get a new spot and take him down easily and always try to flank when he can't see you.

Make sure you have an Automatic weapon (e.g AK, M varients MP5 etc) and switch to Burst or Full Auto unless your target is +100m. Find your nearest cover and spray some bullets at him and get him suppressed. Move about as well or your going to get flanked or suppressed.

I log out.

You, sir, are a douchebag. If you want to play a singleplayer game, install DaiZy, not DayZ.

That's a waist of ammo; you can get the same affect without wasting ammo on semi-automatic. In fact, the only time I'd even change to burst is +200m against a running target so I don't lead too far and into crowds of zombies when I want to drop them quickly.

Its not a waste if you want to survive. Think about it, you want to get the vantage point. Say you fire half a clip at his position, your target won't move, so you can move and get a better position; possibly flank him. As your in close proximity with each other, accuracy doesn't really matter so, firing at him more is going to be more of a concern.

1: I've never fought *anyone* in DayZ with half the ability or mental capacity to pose a legitimate challenge; usually whoever shoots first wins, because I haven't seen them or they haven't seen me.

2: No, waist of ammo; I don't spray-and-pray or suppress; I shoot to kill, and hardly miss.

I thought this topic was about how other people play during CQC, not whose way is better..

You seem awfully cocky as well.

Sorry if I come off rude; I respect and appreciate all submissions. I'm just trying to learn and help, if I can.

And I'm "Awfully cocky" because I rarely die in DayZ. I'm not the best, but I've yet to meet anyone in-game that's better than me. (Of course I haven't met Frankie, Black Widow, or any of the other pros)

I usually serpentine to some cover, throw a few rounds their way, retreat to an easily defended building, and wait. If they come hunting for me I'll kill them, and if they leave the area, all the better. I leave the area without any blood on my hands.

If they fire the first shot(s) ill run towards them in a very unorganized fashion (CQC) and try to get behind them then pop them in a head if I have a high fire rate weapon. If I'm getting shot at from a sniper especially in the cities, I'll try to stay out of the line of sight by using the buildings or surrounding terrain as cover until im such a distance that im hardly in shooting range, then i'll move onto a different city.

I rarely get shot at, but usually I run to cover.

When I shoot people though, they fall on the floor and stay still, bleeding from their cranial area.

Putting videos on YouTube doesn't make you 'pro'.

Did I say putting a video on youtube makes me a pro? Did I say they're a pro because of uploading to youtube? No. They are pros, and Frankie happens to upload. I was describing them as pro, and saying where you can go to catch evidence of their proness. I'll thank you kindly to read more carefully, sir :)

Speaking of uploading to youtube, does Black Widow have a channel, or is s/he just a DayZ internet myth?

While running to cover try to listen to how many rounds they've fired, if I know they're 1 bullet away from emptying their mag I let them shoot towards me before rushing them and firing at them while I reload. Sometimes when its just 1 on 1 with nobody else there, I prone and shoot them. Some players get over excited and miss their shots when shooting at someone, lying prone gives you the best accuracy as well usually.

That's happened to me. My first A3 gunfight against a target that had the first shot was pathetic...

Me and 2 friends were running over a hill towards on objective, when one of my friends goes down. Selfishly I ran back over the crest of the hill and dropped prone instead of helping my friend. My other friend went down, so I crouched to figure out where he'd been shot from. Turns out the guy was about 10 feet away from me, reloading a magazine. I emptied 30 rounds at basically point blank and lost.

It's surprising how often it happens, sometimes they're over excited, sometimes they just needed some painkillers/ antibiotics to cure them

For the most part if I'm winded/bleeding/starving/anything is happening that results in shaky aim, I change to burst fire and pray. For the most part, it works.

*'merica ... and yeah, explosives are fun.

I once put 2 satchel charges in a firestation for lols. I set the timers for 30 seconds each, then heard gunfire. I ran away out of fear, as I was unarmed (yes, I had 2 bombs but didn't find any guns. go figure)

The three bandits that shot at me all ran into the fire station.

I left Chernogorsk with a bullet wound and an AK47.
