Group Tactics; Whats your Tips?

What Do You Do To Kick Zombie ASS?

Personally, The best tactics come from GREAT communication

Now for an example, running in a town with your team and you all running to the General Store and causing zombies to pour in from the front and back and end up trapping everyone.

My recent team that i played with today showed great teamwork skills... for the most part.

Working our way up to the NEAF to fix two helicopters, We were able to do multiple things to work towards a common goal. I grabbed a Bus while the other two in my team scavenged for heli parts, food, and weapons. As I head into Cherno, i picked up both of them and head to NEAF. We arrive and get to work. One provided Security, one fixed the helis, and one scavenged the nearby area for anything useful After the heli was repaired and fueled, That's when trouble arose.. I came back from the town and came in hot with a UAZ. i turn to head into the hanger and just BARELY tap a heli and cause a chain reaction explosion that destroyed the helis and our UAZ. One of my teammates was knocked down and me and my friend didn't even notice! Good thing he was able to get up and we patched him up best we could.

The point behind this story is that we were snapping necks and cashing checks before the explosion. Signing different tasks for different team members is key to getting things done quick and efficiently.

Some Tips:

  • First off, and most importantly, COMMUNICATION. This cannot be stressed enough.

  • Another key is The ability to be comfortable with your team. Dont be uptight about stuff

  • Make sure you know where everyone is at all time. Its important in case you get in a tough situation

  • If something goes wrong, Make the best of it. :D (I blew up 2 helicopters and my team is still with me!)

  • Hit important areas of interest first with careful coordination from other members. Find out what everyone needs and keep an eye out for anything they could use.

  • Build good relations with your team. (Dont yell at them or take their stuff etc...)

  • Respect each other and lend a helping hand whenever you can. :beans:

  • Ask for team opinions on decisions that involve the teams well being. (Staying and fighting or running for example.) B) :)

  • Lastly, if you got it, use a MIC! Typing on the channels is extremely dangerous because it involves you being completely still and left vulnerable to Zombie/Bandit attacks

With these tips, your team won't just survive...

IT WILL THRIVE!

If you have any other tips or suggestions, feel free to Reply!

The colors are usually to emphasize a point. the different font sizes are to mke it seem like your not just reading a page from a book or something

Communication... so you "Communicated" with your team across the map, while they all scavenged? Hmmph, I guess direct communication got buffed... OH WAIT! It didn't, because cheating bastards use team5p33k, skype, or steam chat, which ruin the game by taking the logistics-one of the most important parts of any military, police, or hunting operation-challenge out. Completely. The only way to "Maintain proper communications" is to cheat.

And do cheater's ever win?

No, except for FrankieOnPcIn1080p, maybe.

That being said:

Play Arma 2/OA sniper/stealth missions with your teammates before you play DayZ. Learn who is the best shot and best CQC, the two most important roles. Anyone else in your team should practice both, while your sniping/confrontational units learn to drive, fly, and do the less-basic parts of the game.

This is how my 4-man team operates:

We have:

1 sniper, usually with a DMR if we can manage, AS50 if we're lucky, and M24 if we aren't

1 CQC, with an AK variant, M16, or MP5. He does most the zombie killing, and gets the M9SD/SD ammo first.

1 Confrontational (Me), who's job is to greet players we don't trust or sneak up on/shoot anyone that shot another player/has a bandit skin/did anything we don't like. We're bandit killers, after all. I take a Fal when I can, or a M14 if we have enough DMR magazines; you have to have a 1-hit wonder weapon if you're the confrontational unit; if you try greeting a player with something like an MP5KSD and miss, you're going to die.

1 Damage Control. Usually the pilot or driver, Damage Control tends to get the largest backpack (we all have coyotes), an assault rifle, M9SD, and a sniper rifle in his bag. His job is to kill zombies while the rest of the team deals with something loud, protect the sniper while he's sniping, be the distraction, and generally stop the shit from hitting the fan.

I like to go into town as a 4-man team, because leaving a sniper outside makes me feel like a player-killing asshole, but if we know someone is in town and the sniper can get a shot on him, we'll leave him out. I take the lead and go into buildings first to say "Hi!" so I don't carry any valuable gear (other than my Fal + ammo). Mr. CQC follows me (not too closely) with bandages and a blood bag, just in case. Damage Control stay's outside the building, hopefully across the street on on the second floor/on top of another building.

On night servers, we all don NVGs. Damage Control runs around throwing flares at non-loot buildings, so the zombies stay away from fire stations. The sniper stays out of town completely at night, and watches the roads for incoming bandit vehicles.

Justifying yourself doesn't change the fact that it's hard to read, man.

There's a reason why pages from books are set up like that. A lack of uniformity makes text harder to read.

ok forget about the text, unless you have something to add to the post, then get off the topic

This is how my squad normally operates.

1X Sniper - Playing overwatch he is the best of us altough we all can use sniper rifles. Generally uses a dmr as its common ammo (Has a backup m14 aim as same ammo as dmr and equipped with ghillie and a coyote first)

2X Scavenger/Looters - These people know all the good loot spawns know how to efficently run into a city get whats needed and be out in under 10 minutes (This is with cities like cherno and elektro)

1X CQC - Close quarters combat specialist who usually is the guy who youll see feeding info to the sniper/taking out zeds/players

1X Jack of trades (me) - Can cover everything above and generally the leader of the team (albeit i never was voted in)

We also all knows how to fly planes choppers etc etc cause thats neccessary. As well as we all carry an epi morphine and blood bags for everyone.

We also use teamspeak because keeping info rolling between each other is difficult without everyone hearing you.

Also never take anything seriously most of the time we shoot eachother depending if noone is around by accident and have a good laugh.

Less communcation is more communication especially in hotzones. Work with your team on arma playing with ACE/ACRE doing scenarios it will calm down the radio chatter and build more confidence in your combined playstyles. Then from that set up your dayz ideal loadouts per player i.e. Medic/Engineer (parts guy) and so forth send your fire teams out in groups to accomplish a task more eyes in an area is better.

Anytime I can go on but I dont want to take up to much space make sure to always include overwatch for your fireteams when you send them out. Or have one of the team members split off from the group to provide overwatch from a set location pre communicated

If your interested I can send you an ACE/ACRE chernarus training map that I made PBO. You have to take back everytown and they all have different scenarios happening when you get there. There is also weapons caches added to each of the major loot areas in game to simulate looting whilst fighting and getting around

So how do you communicate with your team?

If something happens and your whole team is wiped out, how do you communicate your spawn points or where you want to meet without using anything but direct comms?

Almost any smart team uses external programs as you usually have control over who hears or not also side chat can work but that is asking for trouble.

Yeah, but the person I quoted says that's cheating. So I would like to know how HE communicates with his team if skype, ts3, steam, etc, is cheating.

Don't work with anyone you haven't got to know from a distance, especially having witnessed the staggering number of flat footed, trigger happy, dinner bell ringing buffoons that populate Chernarus.

The only meta-game communication we use is steam chat so we can decide which server to play on, and where to meet. But after we all spawn in, we stop using the Steam overlay.

We used to play on a private server that used radios as the only way to use global chat. The problem was, lots of people had radios but didn't talk, to hunt other players down-which is what we started doing after being ambushed twice.

But no, once we start playing, no more communications. The only exception to that rule is if I bring my laptop to a friend's house and we play together.

I think you used flat footed wrong... or maybe I'm not used to your use of it.

When you're "Flat footed," it means you've been caught off guard, doesn't it?
