My first PvP experience.

Hello fellow survivors.

I started dayz and recently had my first PvP experience. Here is what transpired.

My first venture to the infamous NWAF and Im in the NE barracks with a steady flow of z's coming in the door. All of a sudden my legs are broken!?! bugger got me through the wall!!. I am bleeding too. I fire off 3 shots and apply a bandage.. the bugger swipes me again through the wall. I pass out... I am sure you can guess how that ends.

Anyway freshly spawned Im in the west.. Kamenka. I do the usual basics run and a guy announces on side he is offering lifts west of Balota. So im fresh meat and little to lose I give him my rough position and he comes for me. Guy was driving a humv. I get in and he tells me he is headed to NWAF.. do I want to come? Yes! I can get my gear back! So we drive to NWAF and when we get there he jumps out the humv and says you keep it. and off he goes into a waiting chopper. Im guessing he had TS running and arranged a pickup from some guy...

The humv is beat up but it runs so I go look for my body armd only with my makarov. i find it but the guns are gone (m1911, AK74 Kobra) along with my camo and chezch pack. I salvage what I can and jump in my humv. im driving down to the industrial buildings in NW corner.. I see a black SUV gaining on me (not sure if its faster or just because my humv is beat up) I see 2 guys in it and decide stopping is a bad idea so I take a sharp turn over the grass hoping this thing is a little quicker of road... no... mate no... fail.. as I hit the second strip of tarmac the SUV slows and 1 Guy gets out.....I see a long rifle in his hands and boom my tyre is shot out. I jump from the humv and shelter behind its body.. as I do this the SUV drives past me I aim at the window and let 5 shots out as he passes ''Headshot'' the door opens and the body slumps to the ground.. I notice my AK74Kobra.

So I am sitting there pinned to the side of this humv.. I know he has a 1 shot rifle of some sort.. maybe 107? He is approx 75 metres from me.. just enough to make my makarov allmost useless... I realise I cant grab the guns from the dead guy in time but luckily when I went to get my gear back I picked up 2 smoke grenades. The SUV isnt too far.. I make my move. I lob both smokes at his position obsurring the ground between us I dash for the SUV! Im in! and im moving... then blam! car has stopped dead and blam! so am I.

So maybe I could have done different maybe not.. I took 1 with me though... take that you pair of thieves!!!

So that was my first PvP. It ended in my death. What happened next was sweeter than a worthers original

So I spawned again and decided to head to my tent. I had 2. 1 was NE of stary and had some decent mid range gear and the other was close to the coast and was my designated (I just respawned get too) I got there geared up best I could.. luckily I had a great gun in there the Sa58p (yes yes I know its not that epic but to me it was a great gun) So I armed up with 3 mags and some smokes and the usual food etc and as I was close to Cherno I decided to go camp the treeline in the hope that the guy I killed would be somewhere close after spawning.. I also wanted to look out for his partner in crime in case he came to pickup.

I didnt have to wait long before I saw a humv..it stopped close to the barn NE corner of chern.. i tagged the target.. it was the guy who had sniped me at NWAF .. he had obviously repaired my humv as he had nailed the SUV with his sniper. Cheeky bugger! He got out and refueld. I was quite far a way but decided to have a pop. I zeroed my gun to 6oom and let off a few single rounds. 1 looked like a hit but I wasnt sure the range may have been more or less..... he jumped back in and the humv rode away to the east...

A message came up in side ..''whoever that was shooting at me in cherno you are a sh1t shot get some skill'' I decided not to reply. I wasnt sure what to do at this point but instinct told me that he would be back. I was not wrong. I decided to move my position 300m west to make it harder. crouched and waited..watching. Now whether I am a noob or a moron or what I do not know but allmost at once they were sat crouched (him and the guy I killed earlier) 150m down the slope from me. Maybe I missed them or they suddenly went from prone to crouch.. who knows. I opened up straight away and because I had not zeroed my gun my aim was high.. I was a little panicked also so It took me half a mag to kill the first guy. (the same one I headhsot with the makarov). Im guessing the incoming fire forced them to prone again hence not receiving much fire back.

1 down and the nemesis to face... I dropped down and threw a smoke again then i Jumped up and ran back away from the fight.. I ran round and down and in no time was to the side of where I hoped he would be. I went prone and crawled through the grass. I could not see him.. where had he gone? i rolled and rolled and crawled and crawled.. no idea!? then I saw him.. he was literaly crouched next to his fallen comrade. He had not moved but was using a thick tree to hide behind. he was looking at my first position. I was side on to him. the range was not short so I crawled some more.. risky. I got within about 200m and he saw me he fired as I rolled I sat up and poped 3 rounds off. headhot! I saw his name flash up dead and I knew it was over. I went to the bodies and was rewarded with an M24 and some other trinkets.

3-1 to me.

Maybe I was lucky. Maybe I am a jedi. Maybe just maybe with all those guns they should have splitt up and hit me from 2 sides..anyway. I am proud of my first PvP.

Very nice, you can handle a firefight like the best of them. Chances are those two hadn't played any Arma and just got it for dayz, and their only PvP experience is shooting at bambies with a high powered sniper rifle. In a fight, you can't be too close to your partner, and never linger in the same revealed location. You did that, they didn't

Just a note though with the SA-58p, just because it can zero that high, doesn't mean it can fire that far. Accuracy is terrible and the bullet will do significantly less damage by the time it reaches that far. Best to only go 300m max.

Thank you for the comments. I did not know the Sa58p was so poor at range I just assumed due to the zero mark up it would hit. Ive not tested it in the field enough clearly. I shall treat it as a close combat/mid range weapon from now on. :beans:

Thats one thing I love about Arma2. Arma2 gets bullets right. No more of that CoD BS where a 9mm round from a sidearm goes over 200m with no drop off.

Well I mean you "can" make the shot, but hitting a spec with iron sights with your normal sway is pretty damn difficult, and since the bullet loses significant speed over that distance, it would do significantly less damage than the number in the DB, so it'd have to be headshot or nothing. With the zeroing you can go farther than the other assault rifles, just not 600m lol.
