Because...Screw Logic 0 Posted March 25, 2013 Read carefully please,i don't want to be misunderstood. So I've been part of the Dayz community since about August 2012. I've been playing on and off since for several reasons. Mainly because once i get great gear such as Night vision goggles and an As50s (a vehicle too.) i run out of things to do (besides kill players which not everyone really wants to do) i find the game just gets boring and tiresome. But this was after the debug monitor was removed and so was the mp table so all stats were removed. Before i used to see how many zombie kills i could get in a life and that motivated me to find food and ammo and better weapons but now i feel like I've completed Dayz when i manage to get hold of good gear and weapons.I think my idea would give Dayz players something to keep playing for after they've gathered and found good weapons and equipment.I would like to see a Zombie kill and players kill count and a couple of other goal worthy statistics.I believe that some kind of leveling system would go a long way to keep players motivated to play Dayz, I'm not saying that this Leveling system has to be like cod and offer rewards and unlocks for leveling up but rather a non beneficial leveling system that just offers a title and a level number for players (this is so that the system runs alongside the way Dayz is played and works) I personally think this would be a great thing to see in Dayz standalone. If you read please if you can give your opinion and some feedback. Thanks for reading. -Guardian- 206 Posted March 25, 2013 The leveling idea is something id like to see if done properly, for it could be done wrong extremely easy. I would want it just as a way to show experience in the game. Just as a way to tell how long another player has been kicking in a sense. What i would not like to see would be any gain for being a higher level other than that though.
Because...Screw Logic 0 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Yeah i completely agree with you. I feel that a beneficial leveling system would be out of place in Dayz. But i do believe it can be done right and work out as a good feature. Edited March 25, 2013 by Because...Screw Logic
-Guardian- 206 Posted March 25, 2013 Used solely as a way for other people to see how long your character has been alive
Because...Screw Logic 0 Posted March 25, 2013 What kind of actions taken in the Dayz do you think should add towards your level and experience, i was thinking something like eating and drinking and killing zombies as these are the main things you need to do to survive and of course days passed. maybe players killed but i'm not sure about that one. colekern 1364 Posted March 25, 2013 But this isn't going to do anything but encourage KOS, which really isn't a direction the game needs to go.
-Guardian- 206 Posted March 25, 2013 But this isn't going to do anything but encourage KOS, which really isn't a direction the game needs to go.not really, it encourages staying alive longer more than anything else IMO. I wouldnt suggest that killing other people increases your level as much as just simply staying alive does. You could even pull tasks as a way for you to gain a higher level. (im just brainstorming here)things like - X amount of meat cooked- X amount of Tires/Engines/FuelTanks fixed- X amount of Zed killsIm still trying to think of ways this could actually be implemented. I think most people really don't think achievements are right for DayZ (I sure don't).I could see some sort of online leaderboard for who's survived the longest, but that's it. For DayZ to be what it has the potential to be it needs to start giving people incentive to do certain things. if there was incentive for ALL things, it really wouldnt steer anyone into playing a certain way either.* I am strictly against achievements, unlocks, or anything of the sort. I just want a simple - lets say title - for staying alive. If a leaderboard was implemented to easily be accessed and tracked id like it.
Because...Screw Logic 0 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Yeah i do believe that a system of some kind like this would give people more to aim for in Dayz. Its gonna need some work but i think that Rocket can pull it off for the standaloneLeader board is a great idea maybe a local per server one and a overall global type leader board?but the basic title and leveling system is still something worth investigating i believe. Tigerbeetweenie 51 Posted March 25, 2013 I can say, at least, that the idea of a leveling system encourages gross amounts of unfounded speculation.
