I became a bandit in DayZ because I was protecting myself from other bandits. Now people attack me before asking if I am friendly just because of my bandit skin, so I have to protect myself and kill them too. I guess now, I have no choice but to be a bandit.

You have no choice really, a lot of people panic and shoot you on sight, if can try to talk to them but mostly they will turn around and take your gear.

check ur stats or that whatever screen : bandits killed and murderer, 2 diff stats
