What's wrong with Berezino?

I am asking this because since a few days I have started to frequent more the NE corner of Chernarus and even with 30-40 players Berezino is the most lonely place on the island...

Nobody around, I spent hours and hours running there, yet there are 2 supermarkets, one hospital, 4 mil. tents and plenty of buildings. On top of that, the area around is almost flat and the town is wide, so snipers have a very hard time picking targets

It is a good ways away from the real high value stuff, so not as many people frequent it.

The end destination for most people is NWAF, for the military loot there. As such, going to Berezino is out of the way.... more folks would rather take the typical route up through zelenosk and/or stary, gearing up for the trip to NWAF.

If you are not overly worried about military loot, then yes Berezino is a great place to go, much safer and not bad for loot either. I used to frequent the area (before starting my own server, which due to additions has quiet a different game play) .... making runs between berezino, khelm, the deer stand, krasnostav (also has a grocery store) and NEAF.... rinse and repeat.

Gvozdno is also a decent place to try and get the motorcycle there as well (not to mention the UAV out in black lake)

That's what makes it dangerous. You only get to meet a few people and they usually shoot on sight. They also know how to play the game, I got killed in a few seconds when I got spotted.

But it's a great place though, it's the best coastal city IMO.

I once met a friendly guy armed with a fiddy cal and I had a crossbow. I was just looking parts for my bike when I saw him.

Yes, but they don't spawn all that much (compared to say a barracks or a firestation), and there aren't that many of them

I don't find Berezino to be that safe.

The loot is good but on most servers you tend to get traffic heading to the North-East Airfield appearing and eager to take a few shots on the way to the airfield.

70% of the server will be cherno or elektro just for the pvp.25% will be heading to stary and then nwaf,slaughtering each other on their way.the last 5%,smart people lik us,will go to bere for food and meds and head north from there,and will unlikely meet each other since they are so few,unless they set a meeting in the coastline or the berezino hospital roof.

I think berezino is so lonely now cause it used to be a deathtrap,in the summer during The Great Rise Of DayZ(the time that pretty much every server was full) berezino would be full of players,and due to the lack of good sniping hills and the existance of the apartment buildings,lone wolves knew that they had to be quick or dead.If you didnt have a friend to cover yo ass you would be dead before you even notice.So i guess that fresh spawns are way too scared to go there,and geared guys don't want to risk their shit.That leaves us with 2 supermarkets and a hospital,pretty much for personal use.I should add though,that berezino is really popular to owners of vehicles,mostly cars and trucks,since they can avoid having their wheels stolen in elektro,and they can just load every can of beans and box of painkillers in their vehicles and get it to their base.It's one of my and my clan's first stops if we spawn east

Things tend to go in waves, popularity goes up and down. When I first joined the most deadly place to be was Cherno. Since January Elektro's been the most deadly on many of the servers I visit. That said, it's quietened down again. I think it' might be partly due to mod updates. Not the beta patch updates but the daymod updates. Things seem to get a lot harder after we lost 1.7.4.4. so maybe more people found it harder to get up the coast?

Hmmm, it could be because some people are too lazy to run there from Three Valleys/Solnichniy as there's no actual Berezino spawn. I frequently see players in Berezino, but that could be just because I play on a server where there's a custom military camp in Olsha. I really, really like Berezino for its 2 convenience stores, hospital, apartments, the school/warehouse/whatever, the military tents and its proximity to the NE airfield. I've also found an ATV on top of Klen pretty much every time I've gone there.

I like Berezino, but it's way-ass far north. It's parallel to NWAF but without the military firepower bonanza. And you don't spawn near it. Also NEAF sucks.

So bottom line is your best bet as a new spawn is to Leroy Jenkins into Cherno, Electro or Balota Airfield and grab medical supplies, some food, tools, whatever gear you can. If you are lucky, you'll find an AK, Enfield rifle or tactical shotgun and a pistol before some bandit finds you. Assuming you survive the coastal Call of Duty fest, next step is to hike up to Stary or NWAF to grab some heavy duty loot. If you're lucky you'll come across a heli crash and find a coveted DMR, .50 cal AS50 or Barett M106. Then it's back down to the coast to kill everyone. And so the circle of life continues.

The only reason to go to Berezino or the entire east side of the map for that matter is that you want to avoid the whole shit-show and eek out a living carebearing through the woods.

Most of the time, I just head to the best place where I spawn.

My game has a habit of spawning me near Elecktro, and I just give it this 'i dunt giv a fuk' attitude, rush in, and try to get some shit. If I get a different spawn? I'm a lot more careful. Cherno and Elecktro spawns for me are just 'who fucking cares lets just run in this one time'.
