Realistic Repairs

Recommended Posts

So when it comes to vehicle repairs i know the mod has limitations, but in the standalone i was thinking specific parts for each vehicle type. You shouldnt be able to run around with a one kit fixes all in your backpack.

For example using the car tyre to fix a bike wheel ? Just to make it a little more of a challenge to repair anything.

I had a quick search and found nothing on this, please post your concerns, loopholes and pitfalls.

It defiantely has been mentioned before (I know I've commented on topics about this before) but that doesnt mean it's not a good idea and shouldnt be taken seriously.

I completely agree there should be more diversity in loot, especially for vehicle repairs. It SHOULD be difficult to source and repair componants of vehicles. As you say, at the very least there should be different types of tires for different types of vehicles - truck wheelse, off road wheels, bike wheels etc. etc.

It should also take more time to pysically fit and take more time/weight/slots to transport componants, particularly large and heavy parts such as engine blocks.

This subject ties in nicely with the idea of taking componants from other vehicles too as well as an in-game inventory system based on a weight limitation for characters. You should be able to take parts form otehr cars but you shouldnt eb able to wander around carrying engine blocks and spare wheels in you back pack!

Ahh apologies if it has been mentioned. I like the idea because it will create a sort of, operation you would have to carry out over a slightly longer time period, especially if alone. The weight based inventory idea i like and have thought about before and would definatly make repairing a vehicle more difficult if playing alone, but thats obviously a coversation to be had on another thread.

Anything that create more diversity and a more varied player objective is a great idea in my book.

I think that this system would only be effective when coupled with scavenging from other vehicles otherwise i think you would spend far too much time looking for something specific, imagine spending days looking for that particular type of wheel like a truck wheel which presumably would have a lower spawn rate than car wheels.

Yes i agree it would have to be coupled with that to make it bearable.

I can agree with this. I'd like to see an option to getting your vehicle onto some type of lift when you have to replace a tire. It's impossible to replace a tire when it's on the ground.

I'd also like to see some type of cooperation method like having a buddy working beside you on a car.

I just don't like the fact that if I pick up a wheel or engine it works for ANY car. I want some variety in that at least.

To be honest, I don't think you should even be able to fit a single tire into your backpack. Vehicle parts should be carried or in the case of tires possibly rolled on the ground. Heavier parts like rotor assemblies should have to be loaded on a trailer with the help of a hoist.

Vehicles should be much more common at the expense of being a pain in the arse to repair.

It's just a tad bit unrealistic to have only a few cars over the large map of Chernarus. Sure, you could say that the citizens left in their cars, but most would have probably died from the zombies while at their homes.

I dont think they should over do it, i mean it is a game, but maybe increase the inventory space it takes up or if they implement a weight based inventory. I agree with maybe more cars, but make alot of them quite banged up so its quite time consuming to repair them otherwise it would be like need for speed Z.
