Requesting Optimization Suggestions

Recommended Posts

I'm installing Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead on my new laptop right now. I'd like to know what I should set it to, what I should buy to optimize my performance, and general things I can do to optimize my performance.

Heres some information on my laptop:

Hewlett-Packard

HP G42 Notebook PC

AMD Athlon II P340 Dual-Core Processor 2.20 GHz

3.00 GB (2.74 GB usable)

64-bit Operating System

It runs most of my games great. Garry's Mod runs fine, Counter Strike runs good, etc. No problems with it so far for my general games.

Arma 2 has posed me problems in the past. I'd like to play DayZ lag-free; I don't care about the graphics.

I'll update with what I experience when this finishes installing.

Quick question does it have a graphics card?

This would help greatly to know.

also, never judge how well your laptop can run a game based on its performance with garrys mod. that's like a 10 year old engine

Hah I played ARMA 2 wasteland today. Noticed I was only getting 27 fps on medium/high settings. I lowered all my settings to the lowest possible...still getting 27 fps. I then raised my settings to the highest possible...28 fps. WHAT!??!
