Steam version of DayZ wont connect to server

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've been playing DayZ with the Steam version since it was released and have had no dramas until I decided to install DayZ Commander and try to run the game from that application,

ever since I can join a server lobby and attempt to connect, the game passes through the receiving screen with no issue, but when it comes to the screen where it says creating character and what not, it fills the bar instantly (as if something is stopping it from even trying) and just counts to 40 and says something went wrong. Then one of two things will happen, I'll be in debug or ill be a bird. I have a genuine copy of Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA on Steam and am running the beta patch. I can now no longer run DayZ and make it work from either Steam or DayZ commander and as such I have removed that piece of garbage...

Any ideas would help greatly, oh I also have verified integrity of arma2 arma2 oa beta patch and dayz mod

You do realise that you do not need to run Steam to play ArmAII / CO ?

Just read through this... http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?134046-Using-Arma-2-mods-the-simple-way&p=2145059&viewfull=1#post2145059

Personaly I use SpiritedMachine ArmAII launcher to manage my mods and Islands... http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241

There are some vids to get you going, very easy to use btw and it keeps you game instalation clean, unlike some other programs.

Try this... Go to Program Filesx86/Steam/steamapps/common/ArmaII/expansions/beta...and start the game using the exe.

When the game has started (all being well) go to expansions and select and activate DayZ.

You will be prompted to restart.

Restart using the same method and you should be set to go into the MP selection screen.

You can use the filter to input a server name or give a hint.

Better still, if you know the server ip & port, use the remote tab.

Might help, might not.
