CaptGentry 4 Posted March 7, 2013 I bought a dayz.ST server and was wanting to check to see if anyone is hacking in my server. I've never done this before so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanceCaptGentry
TheBambiAvenger 146 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) In the admin control panel you can see if someone has spawned in vehicles or loot. Also, if in a time frame of 10 hours, someone has an as50, NVG's, rangefinders, entrenching tool/toolbox, and several vehicles, they probably aren't legit. While it can happen, as50's, nvgs and rangefinders very rarely spawn together. Make sure you don't ban anybody without proof of some kind. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) It's worth remembering that a player can innocently find those items on another player so don't just ban on suspicion because a player has great gear after a short amount of time.. If you suspect someone's up to no good then monitor them for a bit, you'll soon suss them out. Edited March 7, 2013 by Fraggle
wooly-back-jack 294 Posted March 7, 2013 ^that depends if his server is full on private. Mine is on the vilayer hive and I get players connecting fully tooled up quite often, they could just be tooled up from another server on the same hive.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) ^Exactly. My point being that a fully geared player doesn't = hacker in many cases, even if you don't recognise the name. Edited March 7, 2013 by Fraggle
hogscraper 328 Posted March 8, 2013 To find them doing something wrong takes some work on your part. When someone connects, check out their gear. If you're using Dayz.st they have a map that you can watch and see where people are going and use the map and database to see what they have on joining and at some other point later. You can also see where they have been as it tracks them. You can easily check their id on the map, then crosscheck that in the database to see if its a regular that just changed names. This will make it pretty obvious if they spawn in for the first time on your server and beeline to a heli or vehicle they couldn't possibly know is there. Another thing these guys will do is use that same ESP hack to find and kill players. I've seen a few new players get a couple kills then checking it out shows they seemed to go straight towards other players they couldn't see. Kill that guy then straight towards another player they couldn't see. Just make sure you have a ban appeal process, as you never know if someone is a friend of a regular player and is being told where to go or has a spotter checking things out. CaptGentry 4 Posted March 8, 2013 Thanks Guys. So it seems you can just keep an eye out in the database. What about the guys who spawn in things like boxes of weapons or vehicles? What file could I check for that. Also, what string of text should I be looking for? Is there a "player name spawned weapon box"?
terrorizer33 131 Posted March 8, 2013 Give this a read.. might be usefull although Im not sure how much a DayZ.ST server differs from a 'normal' public hive server like ours..http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/120666-dayz-server-administration-guide/
