So.. Im a bit of a hoarder and a newbie.. and for that the Inventory Que hates me...

Recommended Posts

I like collecting stuff and stashing it. Unfortunately I was heartbroken when I found out they occasionally disappear if I try to put to much stuff instead of saying.."nope.. you got to much shit"

I think what I need is a list.. and I haven't been able to find one that tells you how much space certain things have (like the trunk of a car or tent) and how much space an object occupies...

Ive had Arma 2 for about a month, and Dayz for about 2 weeks... so Im still just trying to explore.. and like a kid in the candy store Im picking up EVERYTHING!!

Thanks in advance for any tips or tricks!

I got over a similar hoarding problem recently.

If i'm not trying to repair a vehicle, or do something specific this is how my inventory looks.

  • First I make sure that you have a solid backpack with 16 or more spots.
  • I limit myself to 1-2 morphine, 1-2 painkillers, and 3-4 bloodbags.
  • I try not to pick up random ammo, flares, or chemlights, but if i see a smoke gernade i will take it.
  • I never pick up tin cans or epi pens.
  • The rest of my inventory is ammo for my primary, food and water.

happy hunting

I'm going to have to find a way to limit myself... every time I see something... I think...Im going to need that at one point in my journey.. I just know it..

Thanks for the tips.. I will try to keep those in mind...

Im not big on primary weapons but I usually carry a m1911 because it also takes revolver ammo and is a decent weapon. I always get my hands on an Alice or czech pack and carry all the food and ammo I can in it

Never go anywhere without morphine. Everything else is a bonus.

Tents should be 50 slots.

This may have changed over patches but i always use the fifty slot rule so i do not get items eaten :) I generally stop at 4-5 primary weapons per tent plus food drink and the tools i dont need on me depending on what i am doing. If you are a serious hoarder then split your tents, 1 for weapons, 1 for car parts, 1 for food -drink-medical.

Items that get eaten can sometimes be found around the tent on the ground ;)

This may still be the gen on the tents ..

Ok so rule 1: In a tent every item counts as 1 slot. That means your primary weapon is 1 slot, a tire is 1 slot, a jerrycan is 1 slot, anything and everything is 1 slot when inside a tent.

Storage is broken down into 3 different categories, each one has it’s own amount of storage space.

  • Weapons & Tools(including NV goggles, binoculars, and side arms) – 10 Slots

  • Backpacks – 5 Slots

  • Items – 50 Slots

So an example of a full tent would be:

5 AKM’s, 2 Binoculars, 2 M1911 Pistols, 1 NV goggles. = 10 Slots

5 Alice Packs. = 5 Slots

10 tires, 5 jerrycans, 20 bloodbags, 5 Stanag Ammo, 10 Raw Meat. = 50 Slots.

I go:

Inventory: 1 drink, 1 food, 4 slots for ammo, leaving me 6 open slots so I can pick up an engine, wheel, or something else in a hurry without having to shift for space.

And in Backpack: I usually have 1 painkiller slot, 1 morphine slot, and 1 Anti-biotics slot, leaving me the rest of the bag for whatever I find during looting.

I also have to have 3 bandages, the rest goes for sidearm ammo.

But everything I find gets shoved in a vehicle and left there forever, thinking I'll need it but I don't, so I've got 7 assault rifles and a sniper in my truck when I run into a tree and it blows up, thus losing a lot of crap. That's how my entire DayZ career has been. Hoarders unite!

I'm the biggest ammo hoarder, even if it is a poor gun I simply have to get each piece of ammo for it. Even have to sit and think...are these beans really worth having, when I could have more ammo?

I can see it now... Its going to be an entire village of tents...

Excuse me.. me and my family are wondering if we can borrow a tent for the night -----No Room....

But.. there are over 20 tents here---(Shotgun racking a shell) No......Room....

Im going to call it simply... Precious...

I find myself wondering... If I can get this back to my tent... will I ever use it?.. and then finding the answer.... its mine.. who cares if I use it...

I feel like the guy thats got 30 cars in his front yard up on blocks because I NEED them...

http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

Just click on the various items and vehicles, it will tell you in the description what it can store. Not sure how up to date the Wiki is on the 1.7.6 version as a lot of the Backpack sizes have changed ... but those are relatively easy to figure out.
