Arnie (DayZ) 21 Posted March 7, 2013 I used to play DayZ back in june but on my aging computer and after a few too many runins with blatant cheaters I binned the game for a while. However since it appeared on steam a few buddies of mine and myself are going to give it another go. Shocking result 14 to 20 fps on empty servers.Computer setupi3570k @ 4.5 GhzRadeon 7950 @ 1 Ghz8 Gb Ram.I've tried launching through play withSix as well as using the arma launcher, tried manually setting the number of cores, maxmem, etc. What ever i do i don't seem to be able to get this game above 20 fps. Interesting sidenote, my old computer ran this game at 22 fps on an 5850 and an overclocked E6600 with 2 gb of mem.Any ideas would be very much appreciated.Thx in advance. xGODLYf4ZE 0 Posted March 7, 2013 If you didn't know already, ArmA 2 is not very optimised, and even people with very good rigs will lag. You will have to wait for the standalone or try to find a certain pc build that arma 2 likes. Also did you try all the tweaks and stuff?
Charb 298 Posted March 7, 2013 you definitely are missing something... the biggest problem i've noticed (even myself) is setting your memory setting ingame to high versus default. as default has no limitations compared to the other settings have predetermined values.definitely need to tweak with your settings more, trial and error. have you followed any of the guides. Yes arma 2 is not optimised. That still does not explain why it would run at 22 fps on a 3.4ghz E6600 (first gen dualcore) and a radeon 5850 while it would run slower on a 4.5ghz i3570k and a 5970. As for finding a build, 80% of the computers are roughly using the same hardware which is either a AMD or intel CPU combined with an nvidia or radeon video card. There really isn't that much difference, part from the computing power of said GPU's / CPU's and surely not enough to explain the discrepancy of the faster setup runni ng slower than the much slower setup.you definitely are missing something... the biggest problem i've noticed (even myself) is setting your memory setting ingame to high versus default. as default has no limitations compared to the other settings have predetermined values.definitely need to tweak with your settings more, trial and error. have you followed any of the guides.I knew about the memory setting. I've tried both default as well as setting it to the hard coded maximum. I'm not sure what i'm overlooking. I reverted to default settings several times before applying the various tweak guides that can be found online. I spent about 3 hours tonight of tweaking, quitting and restarting Arma. I'll give it another go tomorrow. The thing that would really be helpfull right now is someone who is using an i3570k along with a radeon video card to tell me how they are triggering the arma 2 executable and the settings they are using. gesundheitk 420 Posted March 7, 2013 Describe what settings you play at. Take a screenshot if need be.
ActionManZlt 160 Posted March 7, 2013 Try joining a few different servers... some produce worse FPS on the client than others....
hollenfeuer88 124 Posted March 7, 2013 This is most likley not the case (because of it being new) but have you tried defraging it?
ramontvgames 32 Posted March 7, 2013 I have problems with FPS absurdities in DayZModunfortunately I contented myself and play with the same lagand more to playing the waiting ARMAIII the Dayz standalone

And the ai script is the killer here, it is not simple it is very complex and not very how should i say this... not very put together write so they bug out our machines. it is mostly the ai. oh and when you said that your older setup worked better then new it is because arma 2 will work better on different rigs then on others, even if your new one is more expensive, certain graphics cards and processors work better together then others if you get what i mean Edited March 7, 2013 by xGODLYf4ZE
