Character reset when playing on a different computer

I bought the game through steam, and was running on version 1.7.6 102285 when this happened.

I have been using playwithsix to launch my game.

After downloading Arma 2 OA through steam, and installing dayz through playwithsix on another computer (not at home), i joined a server (de 829) to find that my character had been reset( IE spawned in a new location with none of my previous gear). I thought that this might have just been due to the fact i was playing on another computer, but when i returned home to the computer I've always been playing on, the character that was newly created had replaced my older one. Is it possible to retrieve my old character, and is this a recurring issue?

Are you absolutely sure you didn't join a different server?

Also, perhaps if the admins have some way of being contacted, ask them if they did something to cause people's characters to be reset.

Been playing on the same public server. I play with some friends and they have no experienced any such issues...but thanks for the suggestion!
