I mean like actually buying the parts/case etc and building it that way.

I spend about $850 usd and built myself an amazing desktop. I can run DayZ highest everything with very playable fps.

If you do want a laptop I can't give you any advice. I don't believe in "gaming" laptops.

Hello there

Regardless of what one thinks of certain brands etc and even if the OP gets a bit sweary, dont get insulting or personal. If you have nothing constructive to give to the thread then dont post in it.

Alienware isn't the best option if you are looking for some hard performance. Be aware though, you must be willing to spend at least 900 dollars if you want something that will be able to play ArmA at all.

Here is a laptop that sells for around 1,000, has enough graphical power and CPU power for DayZ (i7M with two GT650s): http://www.amazon.co...minglaptops0-20

From what I've read, it does get a bit heaty after around five hours of gameplay, so if you want the most hours of gaming, I would purchase a laptop cooler.

Hope I helped.

First thing, you don't want to run dayz at very high settings, it doesn't even look better and just messes with your system. I have textures on high, anistoptic filtering on high and FXAA-sharp filter high. It Looks really good and things like post processing and shadows aren't really necessary and just draws alot (except shadows doesn't affect as much as post processing).

Second thing, I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop and with those settings mentioned i get 30-45 fps constantly, so are you sure you want to buy an alienware unless you got a really good deal on it? My laptop was around 900 dollars or 650 euro (where i live our prices are roughly 200 dollars more expensive so if you live in the US that would be around 700.) and i thought it was a great deal and it works really well on all the latest games except i can't run games like bf3 on high/ultra with good performance : P

Hello there

Whilst a laptop would not be my personal first choice for a gaming rig, there are good reasons why people need to choose them.

I would not necessarily go for alien ware as you will be paying for their name. Dell are much better as a company than they were 10/15 years ago and even though they are not amazing are worth a look.

Just don't buy a machine for it's coolness factor as you'll end up paying for cool not parts.

my buddie built his laptop for about $700 and although it doesnt run dayz on Very High, it does run it at about Med-High pretty smoothly. WAY more affordable than an Alienware, and much better quality if built right. I was going to get the M17x but everyone that is big on pc gaming that i know says alienwares are good for the first few months, but then they start to gradually decline in speed and the like
