1080p 0 Posted March 1, 2013 This is not mainly for dayz, more for arma 2 oa. I have been trying for 6 hours (no joke) now to find out how to disable grass, and the only way I ever done it was with hacks, and I don't want to use them. I used to get 50fps without the damn grass, and now that I have to stick with it, only 15fps. It's horrible, I have tried every addon i can find, I tried every config I can find, I tried every tweak, every system defrag etc, trying windows 8, I'm pretty damn sure I tried it all by now, my specs are bad, but can easily handle this game without grass. With grass, it does not feel like a game, you can't possibly have fun on a game like arma 2 or the mod dayz with 10-15fps, and not to forget the occasional freeze, when I turn a little to quickly near grass. It's annoying, I cannot get this game to be playable, the only way I can do it is disable grass, don't link me to the gdt grass mod or something along those lines, I tried all those fps helping add-ons. None of them did anything. At all. The only thing making a diffrence would be disabling grass, is there anyway to do this? Or atleast lessen grass quality and shading or movement or something along those lines? Nothing with AtoC i think it's called, mine is set to disabled. So I was hoping it would disable grass but apparently not. Any ideas?
TheDesigner 1197 Posted March 1, 2013 Can't, enabled by default in the Day mod, same with how the Fog is set to a certain distance.
1080p 0 Posted March 1, 2013 But you can change fog to anything, I have changed it to 100 when it's normally locked at 500 using the config files? If thats what you mean by " same with how the Fog is set to a certain distance."
facet 66 Posted March 1, 2013 But it means nothing. YOu can change settings, fog discance will be same. Same grass. You can disable grass only in ARMA Free or maybe in some mods

taco241 393 Posted March 2, 2013 1. Put on a good musical montage song (eye of the tiger is overused but will work)2. Compose a video of yourself working odd-jobs saving money for a video card3. Instant FPS boost

1080p 0 Posted March 2, 2013 http://www.armaholic...age.php?id=6628The link is good but at the top Downloads / Arma 2 / Addons / Miscellaneous / GDT Mod Grass does this not mean that it's for arma 2? It says extract to arma 2/addons, but in oa it's arma 2 operation arrowhead/expansions/addons? Will this still work on Operation Arrowhead? I tried this once and my game didn't work. I tried this once and my game didn't work.Let me walk you through it, because it's a bit confusing.First, go to the Arma 2 OA folder. Create a new folder and name it @grass. Then go into @grass and create a folder called addons. Open up the mod I showed you. You'll see one of two things when you open it.The first one is that you might see two .pbo files. If you see these, extract them into the addons folder you created. The second is that you'll see a folder. If this happens, open up that folder and any folders in it until you find two .pbo files. Extract the pbos to the addons folder you created. After that, load up Arma 2 and click on extensions. Scroll down in that menu until you see @grass. Double click it, press okay, then restart the game.Done.

1080p 0 Posted March 2, 2013 I installed it, but I can't join servers? Says key not supported, delete these files (@grass) or get valid keys?
colekern 1364 Posted March 2, 2013 I installed it, but I can't join servers? Says key not supported, delete these files (@grass) or get valid keys?Unless the server allows it, you can't use the mod online. When you said Arma 2 OA, I thought you meant singleplayer. My bad.I do have something else that could help, though. Go into your documents and click on Arma 2. Open Arma2.cfg and Arma2OA.cfg in notepad. In both files, find GPUmaxframesahead and Gpudetected frames ahead. Change the number after those to 1. DO this in both files. You should get a hefty FPS increase. Also, try this optimization guide: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/33071-guide-properly-setting-up-your-graphics-for-proper-optimization/

I will respond if I get something out of it or not.
1080p 0 Posted March 2, 2013 Ok I tried all of the guide, it made my game worse. I tried ramdisk won't work on my pc. Any other ideas? I know for fact the damn grass is causing the problem, when i look at grass i get 10fps when I look away from grassy area 40-50.
