Just got DayZ!

Recommended Posts

So hey!

I got it through steam and in my opinion I have started of ok. (any tips for finding weapons though :3)

Though I don't know if you guys have tips for me finding a "vanilla" server. I would like it as realistic as possible, day, night rolling etc.

Also can I favorite servers?

I have been enjoying this game so far and I'd say Dean Hall did a great job with this!

Anyway any newbie tips here are appreciated and I hope to see you in-game!

Hey there,

Use DayZCommander to filter servers with features you want on/off, such as a day/night cycle, 3rd person mode, crosshairs, etc.

As for weapons, finding out where they spawn is half the fun. Otherwise, use the DayZDB Map to see where everything spawns.

Find a good private hive server will low population to learn how to survive against zeds first. Then move on to one with better population and learn how to survive with other players hunting you. You will have a better overall experince and level of enjoyment IMHO

p.s. also google Frankieonpcin1080p's dayz videos the are as entertaining as they are informative.

The best advice I can give for getting good at the game is to play a lot, learn the map, learn to match gunshot sounds to their guns, and find a team.

Meeting up with someone randomly in-game probably won't get you a long-term friend, (usually not even a short-term one), so make sure to browse the forums for people that are eager to play with you and your playstyle and skills.

Dayzdb.com for a loot map although try exploring on your own first.

Youtube and other forum posts for insight into strategy and what not to do.

Just remember that during this early period of learning you will die many times, we all did (and still do). Don't get too frustrated and give up! Each time you die you learn something new and build on it, before you know it you'll be roaming Chernarus like a boss.

I'd hate to do advertising, but I have a friend that is running a Vanilla Server, with the exepction of Helo's (atm) but if you are interested in potentionally joining this server just message me.

Happy hunting
