Fallout 3 style storage

Recommended Posts

Hopefully not been suggested, i did a search.

Just an idea for storage, make bins, postboxs, lockers, cupboards and more available for limited storage, No locks or anything, but make enough in game that its not the first place you'd look. Similar to Fallout 3, where you'd store stuff in bins/postboxes and come back later for picking them up. In dayz they'd still be the risk that your stuff would be looted, but it would require survivors to check lots of places, and you might have a house in the middle of nowhere where you can store some stuff that not many people would look in.

I like this idea and for my part its going to be implemented.

But please do make it a bit realistic....

F.e. You shouldn't be able to hide an AS50 in an empty coke can.

Love this idea. It'd make people explore their environment and sneak into small towns they would otherwise have bypassed to head for the airfields.

This will be implemented in the Standalone...Rocket has stated that loot won't be scattered in the odd irregular circles on the floor of buildings in SA, they'll mostly be hidden inside cabinets and shelves.

They'll be 'hidden' in plain sight. As in, ON shelves and IN open cupboards.

These things won't be an actual 'container' like a vehicle or a tent is.

OP isn't just talking about finding things in cabinates, but actually being able to out their own loot into the container and somehow have it save... Which sounds mighty friggin' hard for a hive to handle, as the map would likely have thousands if not tens of thousands of containers in it, and in order for someone to put their loot into one and hope to keep it there, all the conta-

Hmm... Nevermind, there could be a scroll-wheel "save" option for the container, and the save deletes from the server if the container is empty... I don't know how it'd all work, however, as it still sounds like a taxing process for the server.

it is simply the same as the tents and vehicles work in DAYZ...the same or a similar (container) script could be attached to everything like waste bins, desks, suitcases, chests... whatever..so should be not a real problem.

btw this has been suggested and discussed before but not in its own thread :)

 good idea anyway

They would really just be permanent server side "tents". This is a great idea!

yap :) ...if they would create some "container models" it could work the same way :beans:

Edit: the medical supply crates and ammo crates work this way also
