Use the filter function, set it to "DayZ Only" under the dropdown menu, and check "Hide wrong mod version"

Many of the servers I have been playing are 1.7.6

Not sure if you are having problems play, as you never mention any, but if you are, then:

Download 1.7.6 on DayZ commander and make sure everything is updated.

Make sure your installed DayZ version matches the version of the server.

Ergo: you cannot play a 1.7.6.1 server if you have 1.7.6 installed.

Should fix it. If not, try a PC restart and then install the version again.

Many server admins play on different versions, or don't update immediately. Not a big issue.

P.S, you have bought both A2 and A2: OA right? And have ran both?

Just checking.

In the menu you'll just see one option for beta updates (it's for Arma). That needs to be up to date too.

As long as in the menu (commander) it says "up to date" for both DayZ and Beta you should be good to go. You don;t need to update anything else outside of Commander, it does it all for you.

Once done, as mentioned above, check your filter so that you only see servers running the same version as you. There was a patch recently so there will be some servers running different versions for a little while until everyone updates their servers (usually takes a week to settle down). Also, some admins like to stick with older updates.

Beta patch at dayz commander usually isnt up to date, commander doesnt sync it regularly. You can download beta patch from this site http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
