GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 18, 2012 Hey guys, how would you set up a trade between two unknown parties?Situation:Someone ingame or in the forum agrees to trade two weapons.E.g. HMG vs DMRLets say you just have 1 buddy and you dont know how much people will appear for the other side.I have one scenario prepared, but it is far from perfect. Perhaps you can come up with something better.Location: Barn in the middle of an open field, but some bush cover along the way to approach the building.Team A sends 1 player to the barn with the HMG in hand and a coyote patrolpack, nothing else. He can zigzag through the bushes to reach the barn quite safely. He puts the weapon inside the barn and comes back./ Team B could see what kind of weapon he was bringing with him (scope) and that he left without a weapon. Patrolpack to small for weapons.[Or no backpack at all, does it show up correctly on the char?]Then a player from the other team enters the barn and exchanges the weapons. Again, he cant take both weapons. Then player from team A comes again and picks up the DMR :)Well, still far from save. Especially if the covering snipers can make out each other... Perhaps a location where the snipers can cover the barn but the snipers cant see each other... Then people would have to agree on exact spots which would result in the danger that the position gets approached from behind...Lol :) You have something better? SupWithThat 2 Posted June 18, 2012 I have an extremely easy method of trading items with players.I give them a bullet, somewhere on their person - and in return I take whatever they may have of value.
vonlinchen 26 Posted June 18, 2012 I know newer players like to imagine these elaberate RP moments in the game but in reality this kind of circumstance would never happen.Tradding with someone would be near impossible, if you want to be this firendly you would be better off just pairing up with them. ijswezel 2 Posted June 18, 2012 I have traded before. Once with sniper cover from someone, once on my own while the other guy brought his buddy and watched me approach. Both times we agreed on when/where, on a low pop server so both parties could see if there were a sudden influx of connects for an ambush. I emptied my entire kit minus backpack into my tents and took nothing but the trade material and both times it was switched backpack to backpack when I met the other person. We did the trade, everybody checked their gear to make sure nothing was missing, then everyone made cheesy 80s car salesman grins at the cameras while we blasted away into the nearest treeline to the sound of extravagant hair metal and logged back into our usual servers. Bob's your diddly. An important point is to get them on voice comms and have a chat while you're doing it. I wouldn't do it without someone who isn't willing to come into mumble with me and chill for the ~15 minutes it takes. People aren't all bad, and it's a lot harder to shoot someone you're having a laugh with and talking to in real time. The most difficult part is actually hoofing it to wherever you've agreed to trade but it can - and has - gone smoothly, I'm sure it's easy enough to gauge beforehand who's going to be legit and who isn't.Some people tell me I'm too trusting. GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 18, 2012 ah ya, joining TS together is a very important hint.Tradding with someone would be near impossible' date=' if you want to be this firendly you would be better off just pairing up with them.[/quote']That's the point, how do you set up a trade if you have to expect hostility? You can be right and there is no good solution. But perhaps someone comes up with something creative :)
noxiousg 5 Posted June 18, 2012 I have an extremely easy method of trading items with players.I give them a bullet' date=' somewhere on their person - and in return I take whatever they may have of value.[/quote']This is the only way to trade with strangers. If you try anything else, they'll probably do this to you. You might as well do it first.
GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 18, 2012 a possible system could evolve around the use of satchel charges...(Not that I would have any - just would like to elaborate a good system :) )
