BT_Viking 0 Posted June 18, 2012 NOTE:ONLY WORKS WITH STEAM GAME IN DEFAULT C: DRIVEI have never made a program before, So this does not look pretty, (I did a little programing in class, But nothing fancy, And this is not fancy) But this is a step by step way to install the Latest arma 2 patch If you have never done so. I might try to keep it up to date, I don't know. But its Very simple made. Almost anyone could make it.Bassicly, A Button to open up the download page for the latest arma 2 patch. ( You still have to extract and install it manually, Because i dont know how to make the program do that :P)The second Button Is run Program, Which takes the default steam Directory for Arma 2 and makes a backup, then moves the beta to the root folder. Then it gives you a text box to copy a small line of code for your steam launch options. I Install the mod manually, and don't use any of those fancy mod installers.NOTE:ONLY WORKS WITH STEAM GAME IN DEFAULT C: DRIVEhttps://dl.dropbox.com/u/34797145/WindowsApplication2.exeAlso, If anyone would be willing to help me with how to let the user choose the root drive, That would be something good to learn. (Like i said, First project, Trying to learn to code.)
Max Planck 7174 Posted June 18, 2012 Kudos for doing the work, but is it really necessary? All you have to do to manually install the beta patch is: 1. Download beta patch 2. Double click the installer 3. That's itI don't understand why people have problems with this, but if your program helps them all is good I guess!
BT_Viking 0 Posted June 18, 2012 My problem was i had to backup the .exe file, And move one in from the beta folder that I spent about 40 minutes figuring out, And i needed to change my steam launch message to get it to finally work. Its simple true, But i both need the practice coding shit, and sometimes the simple way does not always work -.-If nothing else this gave me practice in codeing :) Just figured on the off chance someone was lazy, they could use this if they wanted :PAlso, I sent it to my friend who was having problems, and this fixed it for her :

Max Planck 7174 Posted June 18, 2012 Ok, I completely misunderstood then. You made it so you can run the patch through Steam? I've just been opening it from the folder, it works fine except your 'time-played' on Steam is capped at 16 hours. That means, if you post on the Steam Arma forum every reply will be "LOL NUB U ONLY PLAY 16 HUORS!!1!". This is fairly easy to live with. It is even easier to stay a long ways away from the Steam forums.EDIT: Zed baby, you are to fast for me. Swoosh!
BT_Viking 0 Posted June 18, 2012 Like i said, I made it more or less for practice. Let my friend use it, About half an hour later she came back and said it worked for her.I can understand why you dont trust it. Its a small file, And im a nobody, So hell, I dont think i would trust downloading it from myself if i did not know it was me o.o (Does that make sense?)Well i promise It is nothing bad, All it does is the stated stuff. If you dont trust it, Ok :) If you use it, Thank you and Great, Hope it works for you. I could paste the code i used, But the code is so simple its almost stupid, And i was lazy and did not rename the buttons using naming conventions and shit :)EDIT: Yep, Its literally to make it so you can play it with steam overlay, But you still have to actually install the mod itself, for this only helps the user put in the beta.
