gemellus 77 Posted February 22, 2013 I've been sitting on a few ideas and I'm going to start by posting a few if no one objects. :)In 28 Days Later, there's a scene where the soldiers are alerted to a zombie attack by the massive flootlight system surrounding the mansion. I can't find a video of the scene, but someone replicated it in ArmaII: So what I was thinking is the ability to take floodlights from industrial spawns and have them hooked up to a handcrank generator (which could be used for various other purposes). When a zombie or player walks within it's cone of "vision" it lights the area up like a christmas tree. It wouldn't be usable during the day but it would be invaluable for defending bases at night.
unkillable94 149 Posted February 22, 2013 Like you said its already in ArmA 2 so if they could port them over that would be awesome.
Rutch 4 Posted February 23, 2013 In my opinion the only drawback of building a base in the open (not underground/ easily detectable) is:You can't defend it 24/7.Like you'll be playing for a few hours with your nice lamps lighting the whole place up, but when you log out and someone else who just drops by will easily see it, steal your stuff, and take your nice lamps with him. :)Unless Rocket adds walls and gates that take alot of effort and time to break into, having an extremely obvious base somewhere is just a big drawback with maybe a few minor advantages. In the mod, if you want to keep your stuff (in tents), you have to hide it.I hope there will be some sort of underground base system at the SA release, with more secure and less detectable entrances perhaps. Because in my opinion the forests in Chernarus barely give any coverage for your buildings/tent, maybe a bit of coverage against helicopters, but anyone walking through a forest and paying some attention to his surroundings can easily spot a tent. And if he doesn't, it's because the owner of the tent used the terrain really well.Rutch
Bribase 251 Posted February 23, 2013 Another interesting part of this suggestion is the ability to use it as defence against other players; They might be advancing on your base in the dead of night with NV but once you switch on the floodlights they are lit up like Christmas trees while all the attackers can't get a bead on you, all they see is the light sources while you fire from behind them.Beans to you!
