Unexpected player count?

Recommended Posts

So obviously there has been a lot of interest in this mod, probably more than was realistically expected by the dev team. My question is (open for everyone, not just devs); will we be seeing more and more servers opening up over the next few days, as well as stronger reliability?

I speak for the OZ servers mainly when I say, there has been numerous server crashes and downtime, as well as constant full slots. I'm by all means not whinging about this, as it's great to see such strong interest in the mod, but are there immediate plans to compensate for this influx of players?

Cheers for the excellent work on the mod itself by the way. It's amazing and the open world, free will, post apocalyptic is something I have always wanted done and done well. The team behind DayZ; you have done very well indeed.

Servers are owned by players atm, so if theres people out there willing to foot the bill, there will be more servers.

Im hoping this mod gets official backing, and we could get servers as powerful as MMO servers

That would be excellent. Considering the DayZ community counts for 2/3 of the current ArmA playerbase, I don't see why BiS would dismiss that idea. This mod is undoubtedly increasing interest and publicity that can be used to advertise ArmA 3 after all.

Higher than 50 player servers ever going to happen?

I'd rather stability first and honestly 50 players is plenty. I have no issue finding ppl on 40 player servers.

As Griff already pointed out, the vast majority of servers is provided by people who found a liking in the mod and provide their hosting capability for free, so really a great thank you to those guys.

For stability: It's an Alpha, we're working on it, we can't guarantee it. Which is why it's an Alpha and not a full release.

It's possible if someone provides a server strong enough. One of the things I love about ArmA; the player cap is only limited by the server hardware.

Cheers for the reply gobbo. I don't mean to sound like an ungrateful brat - you guys are doing an awesome job and no doubt we all appreciate it (as well as appreciate the server hosts).

Thanks!
