When a player crashes a helicopter

I've noticed while messing around in the Arma2 armory that when a helicopter crashes, the people inside mysteriously disappear. Anyway, I was thinking that a crashed helicopter would have at least a chance to have the bodies of the people in it in or near it, allowing collection of valuable loot that would normally be lost.

I think that the idea is that your body disintegrates or rather just a less gruesome way of hinting that you are mangled beyond recognition so therefore your items are useless anyway. But with low key non-mushroom could-esque crashes maybe.

Not true in my experience, recently I was running in the forest when a helicopter flew overhead and crashed into the side of a mountain. I found two dead players and snagged a DMR, all basic supplies and an SVD camo.

I should note the helicopter exploded, knocking down several trees and creating a crater.

Also I was piloting a UAV in Wasteland and crashed it, but managed to find my body and get my gear back.

I don't think there's a very big chance of you disentegrating if almost none of the helicopter does.

Gews, you posted while I was typing, and I didn't know that that was a feature (having only seen one helicopter, ever in my time with the game), so I'm going to request that everyone stop posting on this thread.

Sorry if i didn't read correctly. What kind of wreck? Hard landing or nosedive?

Maybe depending on the part of the helicopter you're in, like the nosedive killing the pilot and co-pilot, but leaving the guys in back intact (but still dead nontheless)

What I noticed is that in Arma 2 when your character gets shot, your face and other parts of your body become very bloody, which is what it should look like inside the heli. It doesn't have to be body parts flying around or anything like that even though Rocket has confirmed that there will be slightly more gore involved in the Standalone.

Actually, yes, I did.

Although in-game it's technically depicted as a manned vehicle because of engine limitations... in real life, however:

A friend of mine shot down a heli and the pilots corpse dropped directly below the point where the chopper was shot at even though the burning hull traveled a hundred meters forward before crashing down
