solarsailor 1 Posted June 18, 2012 In real life, you cannot use a scope and nightvision goggles at the same time. It's a mistake by ARMA devs, or perhaps just a bug.For DayZ, if DMR and NVG won't be compatible, we'll have sniper-free nights and completely different night and day-time tactics for groups and solo players. gouki 1 Posted June 18, 2012 there still is weapons with integrated NVG/Thermal, what about that ?the FN FAL has 400 meter range with 7.62x51mm ammunition, i can snipe with that. DMR has 300 meter range, but mildots ofc. but the dmr doesnt one-shot.

DMRs are common in comparison, so if you get lucky and find NVGs and have a DMR, you can be set for a long time.
dallas 5195 Posted June 18, 2012 Yea I wondered about that too. There's a difference between the rifle having a NV scope itself and being able to look through a regular scope like the DMR's with NV goggles.
Budiak 1 Posted June 18, 2012 For reasons that should be self evident, you shouldn't be able to aim down iron sights with night vision either. It's just as impossible as looking through a scope. With that in mind, they should leave it the way it is.
solarsailor 1 Posted June 18, 2012 there still is weapons with integrated NVG/Thermal' date=' what about that ?[/quote']L85A2 is quite inaccurate at distances over 300-400m. This is an assault rifle with a scope, not real sniper or marksman rifle. The spread is twice the DMR's. FN FAL is a different story though, but I'm not sure if it's a problem since the gun/ammo is quite rare, and it's still worse than DMR at sniping.BTW, "range" doesn't make any sense in DayZ, only dispersion and ammo type does. Range is some useless metric used by AI only. You can hit targets just fine past any distance.
