UmBe 125 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) I would like to see randomized “Zombies” ,not only in appearance .. I’m certain we will see more of that, but rather in performance.Meaning that Zed’s vary in speed. As of now they all run at the same speed (100%), why not give them a random speed between say 70% - 120%, that would not only look better but also increase the believability of the scene when the “Zombies” are not all running with the same speed. But do not only limit it to the running speed, also add pre-existing conditions:-a broken arm, resulting in less damage inflicted by a blow with that arm, provided he can hit you with that arm at all.(it should look like in Dead Island)-with a broken leg, the “Zombie” cannot run, restricted to walking onlyAlso equipment:-like building worker Zed’s with hard hats on making them almost immune to blows to the head, hearing protection making them unable to hear you-motorcyclists with helmets on .. also immune to hit on the head.-some of them might have seen combat, so maybe have some of them running around with a knife sticking out of its back/chest-in real life most people walk around with watches, so make them loot able from almost every geek, but in various states of decay, because they run around all the time hitting things. They may also have already run out of juice, and require new batteries. Edited February 18, 2013 by UmBe
HERBERT-THETREE 44 Posted February 18, 2013 good idea though i believe is been suggested a lot. I cant remember were i saw it but im pretty sure rocket said the variety of zombies would be low because in the SA they want to try and have very stable fps and they see more basic/generic zombies as a way of doing that.If anyone knows were this info is can you link it please so i dont look like an ass thanks.
UnarmedCiv 54 Posted February 18, 2013 Rocket mentioned something similar, the difference is the "stages" of zombie. Like a zombie lifecycle. IE. The older they are, the slower thy are.
Bribase 251 Posted February 18, 2013 Excellent ideas.I had a similar idea a while back.
FlashHawk4 44 Posted February 19, 2013 To be honest, this is one thing I'd be more than willing to sacrifice for performance, as someone else mentioned up here.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 19, 2013 IIRC the lack of variety is only going to be in the short-term.It'll take quite some time before the dev's art team get to work on all the zombie-options I imagine. But even then, that's all superficial stuff.I'd love to see something like this implemented. The zombie life-cycle idea has been floating around since as far back as I can remember, and this is in a similar ball park.More variation creates a more authentic atmosphere.Everyone will know, from playing any other game ever, cloned pedestrians/mobs just remind you of the fact that you're in the restricted environment of a game.Different appearance, function and abilities will help to create immersion in the situation, and make the world feel (formerly) alive
intensity 157 Posted February 19, 2013 More gore.Damage that the zombies have taken affect their performance in movement, damage, etc.
