Dayz funding?

Recommended Posts

Since it is about dayz i figured it would go here.

Mabey im the only one curious or mabey im the only person who missed it when it was mentioned but ive been wondering were did rocket/devs get the funding for this project? I find it hard to believe that everything was donated, was it? I know it doesnt make a big difference and its not going to change my oppinion of the mod/game, im just curious.

Didnt think BI was actually "funding" it.

Thought this was a "side project" started by rocket that eventually got popular...

There wasn't really ever any backing for the mod as far as I know. Host Altitude donated the hive server originally and HFB took over it around November when Host Altitude was sold. I assume the website hosting/bandwidth is paid for by Rocket and the design/logo/code were donated by Joe/Tyler/Adam. Support Staff/Mods etc have always been volunteers. The mod was just something Rocket was working on in his spare time while he under contract working on ArmA 3, it wasn't until it blew up that he was offered a job to work on DayZ full-time.

Obviously the standalone is fully backed by BIS.
