Some ideas I've been thinking about;

Recommended Posts

Standalone ideas!.

Expansion of options whilst being in a vehicle;

As it stands you can only check the gear in a vehicle, what should be possible is passengers eating, drinking and giving Bloodbags, Antibiotics, Bandages, Painkillers to other passengers and to themselves (Obviously not blood bags).

I'm pretty sure this idea will have been mentioned by many others but since the search function on this forum isn't very helpful I decided to add this idea anyway.

Camouflage nets for vehicles and guns;

Everybody must know that hiding a GAZ or a Helux is one of the most frustrating things in Dayz due to the glimmering white shining through the green trees. How about we can use or hunting knife/hatchet to cut off tree parts/bushes/ect to manufacture into camouflage nets for vehicles.

This idea has been mentioned before too? well what about when it rains the crafted camouflage can wear away due to the heavy rain, this adds a really nice risk reward system to somebody creating bases or sitting in the tree line covered up by the greenery.

Tin cans and empty bottles;

These two items have no use. End of story. We need to be able to take empty tin cans and create trip wires in bases, players walking through the brush would trigger the tin cans hanging on a wire which creates a rattling noise and works as a makeshift alarm, something very plausible in a survival situation.

The empty whiskey bottles would work the same way, combined with stones it would have the same value as the tin cans, they could also be used as makeshift waterbottles.

Traps;

The entrenching tool at the moment is kind of useless, sure you can use barbed wire and tank traps but those two things are so blatantly obvious that's it's insulting to put them in bases as they stand out like a sore thumb.

Why can't we dig holes -5ft for balance- for players who stray too close to your base to fall down, they will be able to climb out but it could take a minute or so whereas if any Zombie are chasing them they will be eatin alive in the hole as they try to escape.

The traps could also be pretty great for when running away through your own base when getting chased by Zombie or bandits, you would know the locations of them so leading them into traps would add a whole new metagame to Dayz that doesn't stray far from the things we expect in this game.

Traps of this sort could also be used for hunting purposes.

We could take this a step further with spike traps, logs like in the movie Predator, however I'm unsure about this as on one hand it sounds amazing yet could be too advanced for the game.

I agree that the entrenching tool is useless, but it would need a lot of work to include hole digging into the mod maybe in the SA.

These suggestions are for the Standalone. :)

With the in vehicle thing, players shouldn't be able to use the blood bag accurately.

There should be a large chance of failure. Depending on car speed.

Yeah I like that idea actually.
