Hello, I have been taking a brake from my computer and I was just wondering what the gun icon on the right side of the screen is.

Combat mode.

EDIT: If it's flashing you are in "combat" and can't abort!

It is broken in 1.7.5.1 - you can still abort no matter what.

The icon can be used as a kind of RWR: it flashes for example if you have aggro'ed a Zombie and he is coming toward you, even if you have not yet seen him.

It's your combat meter. When it flashes it means your in combat and you can't abort, and if you quit out you die. Since the latest patch, I either haven't quite figured it out, or it's rather buggy. It now flashes when you shoot, get shot, get agroed, eat drink, apply meds, etc, yet in some cases you can still abort fine. You also can't log out within about 10m of another player.
