Training Discussion

So after playing DayZ for a few months I have found myself practicing my accuracy and combat reactions in various ways. I am curious what methods you all use to become better players maybe this will become a helpful topic for newer players as well. So ill begin by sharing methods i have used...

I have practiced hitting animals from 500m-800m away with various snipers&rifles.

I have used Arma II CO single player to fight through some scenarios and tough situations in order to become better with the dayz controls without taking up too much time in dayz.

I have scrimaged with team mates in live fire combat.

I have also hunted bandits down for practice

So share your methods and maybe some new idiology...

What do you do to practice and heighten your abilities in DayZ?

lot's of ACE mod helps,or at least it helped me practicing my shooting.playing against deadly ai's that will shoot you 100%,helps a lot to learn how to take cover, peek, shoot, use smoke and other stuff to move and kill or escape.Other than that, play wasteland or other plain pvp mods/missions.now,for in-game practice, shooting animals and zombies from 500-800 away is the best way as you said.if you are playing with a team, camp in elektro or cherno with a gun and save new spawns.clear their ass from zeds, and shoot anyone that tries to kill em.You will practice your team skills, and your aim since you will try to hit zombies but not the guy you are saving!

I did a lot of crawling around, learning limits and visablility of enemys, Once you learn this you become more profficient.

I once played solely on the beach, I would wander up and down the coast helping out new spawns and being shot at for evasion practice.

I have heard of ACE and those other mods they definitely are something i want to check out. I also am thinking of throwing together a few war scenarios for a multiplayer Arma II Skirmish just for shits and gigs...

Yeah Stealth is going to be a very important skill as the zombies become more accurate and realistic... The beach is a fun place to mess around in more populated servers its always funny when the bambis try to kill ya when ur helping em that ever happen to you? lol =p Balota strip is always a good place to catch n00b bandits hunting unarmed bambis. too

THANKs for the input guys! Always interesting to see what other people come up with for practice...

I've used the Armory quite a bit - good to get a feel for a gun that you wouldnt normally find too often.

The editor is great for training missions.

Actually I was thinking of knocking up a cherno "guided tour" of sorts with players spawning at the NWAF, then getting a free heli ride to various different areas.
