Suggestion (Natural Disasters)

So Natural Disasters! Like heavy storms that last a long time, maybe you cant fly choppers in heavy storms? + Get infected cause your wet and cold, hurricanes and twisters (i know quite far fetched but possible) that damage vehicles and stuff, flooding (coastal areas) that make it harder to travel along the coast, maybe more boats would be needed? would be huge fun!

Been suggested a few times recently but I dont think it's a good idea to be honest. These natural disasters would soon start to dominate the game and become far too common.

I do like the idea of better weather effects that have greater affect on game play such as high winds affecting vehicle handling and even shooting, fog and heavy rain affecting visibility , wet roads making vehicles handle poorer, etc. that sort of thing. No to earthquakes, twisters, volcanic eruptions and things like that though.

I just don't see it as something that could actually happen. The engine probably couldn't support it, and if it even could, Rocket and his motley crew of programmers would need months to get it to work exactly the way they intended to do it, if they even intended to do it at all.

It seems like the sort of feature that would be present in a different kind of game to be honest.

The natural disasters people want on Chernarus would be as ridiculous as the nuke is on Namalsk, sure it'd be cool for the first time, maybe, but then it'd get old.

I love the idea of the heavy storms imagine running around in gale force winds and heavy rain while dogding zombies and hundling around a fire at the end of the day in the pitch black woods trying to avoid getting infections and hypothermia etc etc.

Heavy storms and blizzards would be sufficient. Reduced visibility, maybe slower movement in the direction of the wind, small debris, but I think flooding would be really hard to implement (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I agree that dynamic weather would be a nice addition especially more ferocious storms but i dont think Natural Disasters are really required. Natural Disasters are, by definition, rare, so you would possibly have one every few years - not really the correct time frame for DayZ.

However, i would really like to Satchel charge the dam in Chernarus, but i am not too sure if a flood is possible in DayZ just yet.

A greater variety of etremes in weather would be welcome, but not to the extent that it could be referred to as a "Natural Disaster".

That would be taking it a bit too far. Not that IRL it wouldn't be a problem, but to represent an authentic situation, it would be too rare to be worth the effort of implementation.

I'd personally like to see, for example, cold, frosty weather which makes paved surfaces slippery.

Or days where the wind and rain will chill you to the bone.

In my mind it gives a reason to have choices in footwear and clothing.

harsh weather is allready kind of done in namalsk, being the extreme cold

maybe the further you are going north, the colder it gets?

floods around the coastline would be a huge pain in he butt though, imagine you get respawned in the water just to die again in an instant...

also weather that makes you unable to do anything other than staying indoors is just a reason to switch servers, just like nighttime is for some people

Some sort of weather or disaster that would force ppl indoors would add some randomness to the game. Kind of like a Blowout in Stalker. You don't get inside on time, become a zombie! :)

Imagine it though, a special event : earthquake. Buildings shatter, maybe increase all spawn rates during and after said quake (like a military response team just died, loot em'). It'd be fantastic, a second apocalypse in my apocalypse. APOC-ACEPTION!
