ssimmons 72 Posted February 10, 2013 I've been playing Guild Wars 2 for the past five months -- took a break from DayZ because the hacking was so bad when I left. Are things still bad? I've seen mention of private hives? I am starting to get really bored with GW2 and I need something to scratch my DayZ SA itch while I wait ... is it worth coming back to play the mod? Rage VG 4033 Posted February 10, 2013 Hackers are no problem if you play on Whitelisted servers.
porkus_maximus 36 Posted February 10, 2013 Hackers are no problem if you play on Whitelisted servers. This is not true at all and I really wish people would stop acting like whitelisted servers are hacker-free zones. No matter how many anti-hack tools you have on your server the hackers will always be working to stay 1 step ahead of you. Regardless of how secure you try to make it a hacker can still teleport everyone or insta-kill the entire server if they really want to, the only difference is that private hives have varying measures of damage-control and can (hopefully) reset a server or roll it back to un-fuck whatever the hacker did.Whitelisted servers are 1000000% better than the default public ones but they're still not completely safe and people should be aware of what they're getting themselves into. For a whitelisted server to be most effective it needs very active admins.

For a whitelisted server to be most effective it needs very active admins. There will be hackers on everything. I didn't claim that they were "Hacker-free", I claimed that they were not a problem, so cool your jets. If a game has one glitch every couple of days that lasts for like 2 minutes, does that mean glitching is a serious problem to the game? No, it doesn't. It's a negative that exists, but it is not a problem in the slightest.BalotaBuddies is a good example of this. There has only been one hacker during the entire time I've been playing, and he was banned immediately and his spawned gear deleted. So it is entirely true. Hacks still exist, but for a whitelisted server with great admins, they will not be a problem, as I stated. Edited February 10, 2013 by Rage VG
FinalNinja447 129 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) With the recent 1.7.5.1 patch there's been alot of controversy about zombie difficulty, bugs and the new combat roll. Personally I don't mind change, but if you're gonna do it, do it right. Balota Buddies servers are staying at 1.7.4.4, much more stable version. Until the hotfixes gets everything right, I'll upgrade. But now I still enjoy 1.7.4.4 and I'm sure you will too. But to reply to what you really want to read, hackers are still an issue, but a much less imposing one since 5 months. Still recommend you find a whitelisted server to have all of the chances on your side to have a safe DayZ experience. taco241 393 Posted February 11, 2013 The scripting overall hasn't died down.Find a whitelisted server for sure. I don't play on anything but. You'll still get asshole admins that will ban you for upsetting their clan gameplay but at least the scripters are somewhat deterred.
GenTroy (DayZ) 22 Posted February 11, 2013 White listed is the only way to go. I've been playing on one for the past month, had 1 scripter get get on and nuke the server. He was banned and the server was rolled back. Other than that, it was been hack free, as far as I can tell.
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted February 11, 2013 Whitelisted servers with active and fair play admins is the way to go. Nothing worse than an admin griefing, or banning you for killing them, dammit i get killed all the time and just think it's a damn good laugh!
