krihelion 175 Posted February 9, 2013 Hello!I have noticed, that alot of Day Z players do not know how to fly, or they can but at a very low level. So I thought I would offer pilot lessons to the DayZ community who wishes it.I have created a mission on chernarus with all helicopters that you may encounter, and a few planes(No Warplanes).I will teach, how to do a non-hot take off, hot take off, non-hot landing, hot landing, how to land and take off without auto hover, flying techniques, how to fly while under fire, and more. The lessons will take about an hour and I can do up to 2 people at a time. If you are interested let me know in this thread. You need to be able to launch Arma 2 OA without DayZ, need a mic, do NOT need a joystick, and the wish to learn. aussiestig 681 Posted February 9, 2013 Great idea. That's something I'd love to do as well. In fact, I might just go make this mission right now for future friends/players who have no idea what they're doing :P

krihelion 175 Posted February 9, 2013 Lol pilot lessons...Flying in Dayz is so Arcade and easy.DayZ isnt a game. Also, 99% of all pilots are baddies on dayz
aussiestig 681 Posted February 9, 2013 Lol pilot lessons...Flying in Dayz is so Arcade and easy. This is one of those things where it's easy to be okay at, but takes a lot of practice and training to be great at.Being a good pilot has saved my life countless times in dayz. I once got in a chopper on chopper battle in dayz. Lost them while flying nap, and managed to catch them while we were hiding. My door gunner slaughtered them. Jonsse 69 Posted February 9, 2013 I think much of the "bad pilots" are due to Arma2 airplane controls. I couldn't fly for shit with the default controls. I fiddled around with them and found a much more logical way to control the helicopters. Now i'm reasonably comfortable flying helicopters and my buddies trust me to be the designated helicopter pilot if we acquire one.

The rest of it is to practice a bit. And its not so so hard to be a great pilot.Anyway, the initiative is cool Edited February 9, 2013 by Mitor
flyingspatula 6 Posted February 9, 2013 This is how I learned, I spawned every air vehicle in the game on a Chernarus scenario and flew everything. Might be a good idea to server force a view distance so you can remove that annoying fog. Think you just make a Game Logic and type in "setviewdistance 5000" or whatever you want. Think you just make a Game Logic and type in "setviewdistance 5000" or whatever you want. You either learn to fly with no more than 500 meter view distance or you will run into problems when the weather turns bad in DayZ.A pilot needs to know the map in and out as well as know how to fly well without taking extra time to do takeoffs and landings. (Autohover will never be good enough for this)
Pandema 352 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Lol, the basic tutorials are pretty badYeah, but its good enough to let you at the very least take off and land without dieing horribly so you can learn to do all the fun shit like fly ~8 meters off the ground through a big city. Knowing how to land while in a tail spin is very important.
