Who can answer my question?

Recommended Posts

I used to play DayZ quite a lot, but seeing as though i play on a Laptop, i had a lot of lag, which forced me to delete it as it was too slow for me to play.

I'm looking to start again, but what can i buy to improve the speed of the game?

I'm in Britain so could you possibly add the price of what i'd need to buy? Thank's.

A new computer?

The lag wasn't extremely bad, just bad enough that my player would jolt around a lot of the time, I've heard a new Graphic card would work, but i don't know?

It's heavy on your CPU... I don't see how that could be read as anything else.

Essentially, you shouldn't be looking to upgrade a laptop, as 99% of the time they have integrated graphics cards, meaning you can't take them out.

A PC is moreso mix'n'match and so is what you should be looking at to improve your performance.

A laptop isn't easily upgradeable. If you don't have much experience with computer building (which most people don't) then you should probably just get a good desktop, so that it can be easily upgraded in the future.

I only use the Laptop because I'm away on work for months at a time, so yeah, thanks :)

Recommend a quad core processor at 3ghz or better and a decent graphics card,,,,

My rig runs it fine

Intel Core 2 Quad - 6600 (2.4ghz)

Radeon HD 5830

8GB corsair RAM

I basically robbed the guy on Ebay, he had no idea what the computer was worth, and for that, custom cooling tower, Razr Deathadder/Arctosa Mouse/Keyboard and a 20inch Samsung digital LCD Monitor

£250

I can give you specifics.

A GTX 560 should be nice, as well as an Intel i7 2600

No need for an i7 at all.

I ran DayZ @ 30fps on medium with an Athlon x4 620 @ 3.4ghz and a GTS 250.

I now have an i5 2500k stock clock & an HD 7950 high 50FPS

A great budget computer -

Windows 8 or 7 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416550

Phenom x4 965 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

GTX 460 or 560 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130649

MOBO - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135315

500GB 7200RPM HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148767

Cheapest Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353007

G.Skill 4GB Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231421

480W PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817170014

Of course this isn't the MOST optimal setup, but it gets the job done.

Around $400-$500

Done.

Not needing an I7.

* That depends if he wants to record/stream game-play.

* Btw, there is a FPS boast, not large but its still there.

- Everything depends on how much your willing to spend.

If 30 FPS, is your average.

* What is your lowest drop?

- 5 to 15 FPS?

N offense to your rig, but its a large bottleneck.

* 4 gigs of RAM, 2 gigs already being used by windows 7, and only 2 left for he game.

* PSU being 500 watts, well that limits any decent graphics card.

* Cheap case.. lol...How about no cooling?

- Your better off saving that 500 usd for a better system

Knew there'd be something like this..

The extra $120 for the i7 could be put in a better graphics card yielding much more.

It's a budget system. OBVIOUSLY it's not a super duper cool extreme fast computer. But it's a gaming computer you can have for cheap.

4GB is NOT bottleneck, I rarely use more than 3GB. Windows 8 idle only uses 12% roughly 450MB.

Limits the graphic card? The system has a GTX 460 LOL. I have a 500w with my i5 & 7950 right now.

Cooling? Get a decent fan down the road if you need it. But I have one cheapass case, just took off the side panel & the max I run with a stock i5 cooler is 58C...

People go way overboard with their systems in my opinion.

120 usd for a graphics card?

* Sorry, but do you know the cost of a decent graphics card?

- A GTX 670 is around 350 usd per card.

For it being a budget system, good for you.

* But to upgrade that system, your better off spending on a new system.

For the 2 gigs not being used by Windows 7 and Windows 8.

* Try harder in lying next time.

Here is a screenshot from my system, being idle.

If you consider the GTX 460 /7950 good enough for you, then that is fine.

* I was talking about a decent graphics card, like a GTX 670 and above.

* Just don't SLI / Crossfire your cards , the PSU is too weak.

Nice cooling, I've done that in the past.

* But you can get a decent , heat sink for your cpu at round 25 usd.

People going overboard with their system.

* Well some people love high fps and image quality, others don't care.

- Its how pc gaming basically works.

I guess your just going to have to.

I have a 7950 which exceeds the 670.. Clearly I know how much a decent graphics card costs.

I use 67% of RAM with DayZ & Steam, & Google Chrome w/ 3 Tabs

A 670 is worse than my 7950. Lol I'm done, sorry you weren't satisfied with the advice I was trying to give someone.

It's a good card, but not better than the GTX 670

http://www.hwcompare.com/12507/geforce-gtx-670-vs-radeon-hd-7950/

Want clarify, which windows 8 version you using.

* 32 bit or 64 bit.

- If your 32 bit, I'd believe you.

- If your 64 bit, then no.

Unless you can post a screenshot of your resource monitor.

Pretty much on par & the 7950 has a LOT more OCing room. Can go to 900mhz to almost 1500mhz.

Capture_zps30d9416c.png

DayZ, Teamspeak, Chrom w/ a few tabs, Fraps, etc other downloads I've accumulated. I've never hit 100%. With Far Cry 3, Skyrim, DayZ, Arma 2 Vanilla, or anything.

Yes, I know its a decent card.

* The drivers for both cards are good.

* But with that link you gave me, check the FPS for the various games listed. <-- Of course that is stock speed.

* As for OCing, we didn't discuss that.

- But in that field, the 7950 has the advantage.

What is your system?

* 32 bit or 64 bit

On that tab you opened.

* Click performance.

* Then click resource monitor.

I'm not an idiot. Look at the picture I posted, see as it says 77% of memory used. That's with several programs, and that's the highest I've seen it. Usually it's in the high 60's.

My RAM is not even close to bottlenecking my system. 8GB is the new standard because RAM is so cheap, I realize this. But if it's not slowing me down, I simply don't need it.

It's 64bit Windows 8

Heres idle -

Very interesting, information.

* "Sorry" for not believe it.

So does that means what Microsoft posted was wrong? lol

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements

Well, I guess there is merit where you system is actually at 77% with what Microsoft suggested.

* Might I ask how many process you have at being idle?
