Standalone Unintended Consequences

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have the experience that every new piece of information about the standalone that gets released makes you want to play the mod less?

Used to, but I took a month break and news about the standalone drew me back into the mod around December.

Yeah, sorta. Mod's still good but Standalone's got the mouth watering.

Sorry for asking, but when is the test going to be released?

Expect the closed testing to begin between tomorrow and the end of time.

I think that the standalone is being too hyped up. Currently looks like a reskin of dayz

That's because for the most part, it is. On the outside, anyway.

Better player models, added interiors, more clothing, different style for loot drop.

That's what the Standalone seems to be ON THE OUTSIDE, BASED ON ONE VIDEO.

If you look under the hood, it's actually vastly improved in so many ways, and, it is way too hyped in my opinion.

People are going to expect amazing things from the Standalone the day it gets released on Steam as a foundation build. (Alpha)

The forums will probably get filled with "DayZ.. I am disappointed.", "I expected more.", "DayZ still sucks!", and "DAYZ IS THE SAME AS WARZ!!" -type of topics.

The Closed Alpha test is going to begin when it's ready. The people are already chosen for it and there's no way of getting in it.

The foundation build / open Alpha will be released after the Closed Alpha is done. There is no set or estimated date yet.

I'm interested in the new beans design. Ain't nobody got time for Heinz (Except for their Tomato Soup).

Yeah, they need to be careful, but so what? I am so fucking hyped for standalone purely because it will give a better platform for better improvements to probably my favourite game.. ever.

A little hype is fine. Being entirely hyped about it is fine.

But when the general hype is so high that people are starting to forget that it's actually far from finished or polished, is not fine.
