thedoubled 10 Posted February 6, 2013 So, we all say the new loot spawn system in the recent dev blog video. A lot of people mentioned that it will be silly when items will spawn beyond reach (like behind closets) and it will need to be patched. So here's the idea on how this can be a good thing: implement teamwork in moving stuff (like furniture) to get the loot.Something like this: You walk into a house. You find a lot of useless junk, but wait, you spot something shiny behind a closet. It's a makarov! But it's out of reach and the closet is too heavy (you'r not a wimp it's just stuck or something). So now, you need a second player to move that closet and get the makarov. Or some more serious situation like a helicopter wreckage that you can't clear by yourself and need 3-4 players to maybe get some military loot from under the wreckage. Something like a message to a nearby player: "X is asking for your help. Help? y/n". I think it's doable.TL;DR: you need more than 1 players to lift heavy stuff and get the hidden loot
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 6, 2013 I like it.It's not necessarily restricting what lonewolves can achieve, but it does give group players some group-centric abilities.I do play alone a lot of the time, so don't think I'm being unreasonably biased. I can accept, in these situations, I'd just have to go further afield for loot because a particluar item is inaccessable. It would only be acceptable if the hard-to-reach loot was NOT rare drops. Just more of the regular stuff.A can of beans rolled under the oven, balanced by the fact that more players will inevitably require more food.
Fenrod 60 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Hell yeah ! They could also implement osteoarthritis and spinal herniations when you lift heavy objects.Seriously though, I don't think that's possible. This would require a tremendous amount of work from the team rocket, and honestly, they have to focus on way more important things. But this idea would force the teamwork, and it's quite awesome. CreepySalad 108 Posted February 6, 2013 I can dig it.
Very Ape 748 Posted February 6, 2013 Giving a quick boost over certain fences would be a nice addition, paving the way for less risky routes during looting escapades.
Supercuate 9 Posted February 6, 2013 This is a pretty cool idea actually, I´d like to see it implemented on high value loot, not a stinky makarov. I would hate to go throug that effort just for beans and a handgun, it would be cool for crashed choppers, helicopter rotor/engine parts, AS50 and assault rifles, the kind of loot that would make you consider killing a player to get something from. It's about luck of the draw. But blocking individuals from certain opportunities would be a total kick in the balls for those who have no option of grouping up.Think about it for a second. Why should a group, with more eyes and ears, and more guns to boot, be given access to better weaponry?I'm not saying in this situation there shouldn't be the occasional treasure, but it should mostly be support/sustenance items. (ammo/food/bandages etc.)
B00tsy (DayZ) 19 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) Sorry, I find this a bad idea and plain discrimination towards the lonewolfs (like me) in the game.I hate using TS and Skype all the time and also not a fan of having to pay attention to 'buddies' with their own minds and course of action so I play it lonewolf, which is cool if you are a sneaky bandit like me. If I can not get to loot anymore it is basically gameover, because the loot I get then totally depends on the loot I grab of dead bodies.Lets keep it lonewolf firendly or at least playable. Like, heavy stuff. That'd be cool.Anyway, it's not making it unfair for the lone wolves. You can still get plenty of loot. Just not the ones behind heavy stuff. UmBe 125 Posted February 7, 2013 Sorry, I find this a bad idea and plain discrimination towards the lonewolfs (like me) in the game.[...]I like The idea, and think it is very authentic, because in Real Life in such a Situation you would be better of with a Buddy you can Trust. But they shouldn't over do it, so it isn't Superunfair for lonewolfs.Maybe add other ways to get to The loot, that Take more Time/ are louder?
Ernst 9 Posted February 7, 2013 Maybe add other ways to get to The loot, that Take more Time/ are louder?Yeah like breaking a lock from a crate or something. You would need a crowbar and it would make some noise attracting zombies. To the original idea with the teamwork :I really like it and saying it discriminates lonewolfs is just nonesense.Accept the fact that working in a team does have many advantages and this would be a great example and wouldmaybe make players cooperate with others more often! You got my beans :)
Ernst 9 Posted February 7, 2013 Just had another idea! Why not giving you more than one way to get to loot.Let's take the example of the locked crate or door or whatever.Opening it with a crowbar would be relatively fast but loud and you would need a crowbar. But let's say you got some lock picks! You could open the lock with much less noise but it would also take much longer!I think this kind of stuffs gives us a whole lot of new opportunities.I could think of so much more! UmBe 125 Posted February 7, 2013 [...]I really like it and saying it discriminates lonewolfs is just nonesense.[...]I think he is right, it is "discriminating" against lone wolfs, but that is how it should be.In a survival situation you are at a disadvantage when you are doing it alone. (depends)
