TheDiaport 0 Posted February 3, 2013 Let's get this out of the way: I just bought Arma 2 on Steam, along with OA. I've been trying to figure this crap out, but I have no idea what to do.I've logged into a few servers (can't get into some because I have ver. 1.62, not 1.62.100296, but whatever), and every time, I turn into a bird. I don't have any other mods for Arma 2. I just bought it, installed it, threw DayZ stuff in there, and every map I go to I turn into a bird, and it's really making me regret my purchase. Can anyone help me out? IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted February 3, 2013 Sounds like you've been hacked, update Arma and Dayz and find a good whitelisted server, I recomend Balota Buddies
piemanpm 13 Posted February 3, 2013 Some quick googling tells me it's a bug.Try this: ( Skip Step 1,2 + 3 and delete the @dayZ folder in your ARMA 2:OA directory )1. Download and install Arma2 and Arma2: Operation Arrowhead.2. Run Arma2 until you load into the main menu, then exit game.3. Run Arma2: Operation Arrowhead until you load into the main menu, then exit game.4. Download DayZCommander and install it.5. Run DayZCommander.6. In the top right hand corner of DayZCommander, under the Minimise, Maximise and Close sign. There are 4 Tabs. Click the " Settings " Tab.7. Tick the boxes that say " Launch using Steam " and " Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so Steam works " It should look something like this. ( Ignore the Additional Launch Parameters that I have ) Click Done. If your Game Directories are blank. Try restarting your computer.8. Click the " Install / Update " Tab.9. Under where it says " ARMA 2: XxXxX " there should be a drop down box below that, make sure the one that says ( Latest ) by the side is selected and press the " Install " button. You will have to wait a while for it to download, and when it does, you get a installation box come up. Install as you would normally a patch.10. Where it says " DAYZ: XxXxX " there should be a drop down box below that, make sure the one that says ( Latest ) by the side is selected and press the " Install " button. Once it's downloaded you will have a wait till it says " DAYZ: 1.7.4.4 (Up to date) " before doing anything else. It should look like this, but with 1.7.4.4. Click Done.11. Click the " Servers " tab on the left hand side and look for a server you fancy playing on and double click one it.12. You should load into Player Screen where it says all of the names of the people in the server. Wait until you see " BattlEye Client: Server computing GUID: * insert lots of numbers and letters here * in the bottom left before pressing the OK button, as you will get kicked because of BattlEye not loading up properly.13. After waiting through a loading bar and " Loading " in the middle of the screen, you will come across a gender selection screen. Click a gender. And wait.14. You will load in game, take note of what it says in the bottom right of your screen, as that is your location and you can find out where to go and buildings to enter by looking at This Map15. When you've loaded in, you want to press the " ESC " key, go to Options -> Video Options and you want the " 3D resolution " to be the same as your " Interface Resolution " Click done and go back into game.Bravo. You should be loaded into DayZ and you're ready to go.I think it's due to you not having installed the BETA patch and it's causing problems. I personally recommend BMRF and have never had a problem with them and they deal with hackers very swiftly and efficiently.
TheDiaport 0 Posted February 3, 2013 4. Download DayZCommander and install it.5. Run DayZCommander.Well, we're having a bit of a problem there. As soon as I run it, I get an error saying "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."Someone really has it out for me.

TheDiaport 0 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Well, here's my new problem. I've verified local files in both Arma 2 and OA after getting this problem a few minutes ago, and it's still happening. Even when I open Arma 2 OA in Steam. Edited February 3, 2013 by TheDiaport
piemanpm 13 Posted February 3, 2013 Did you delete the old DayZ files and install it again through DayZ Commander?
blunt_zephyr 51 Posted February 3, 2013 Odd, I've never had .pbo issues using Play withSix B) Wiki suggest mostly pieman already has but there's some more-detail, in regards to Steam overlay. Does DayZ Commander save mods/add-ons to your Steams Arma install or something like my documents?
