DayZ server administration guide

Recommended Posts

I have another question regarding detection of teleporting. I'm assuming that if a hacker teleports another player, the position entries in the Hive.log could be false positives and make it look like the teleported player was doing the hacking. Is this correct?

Thanks again for the help and advice.

First of all, thank you for the administration guide. I read through it and learned a lot! Can someone clarify something for me regarding coordinates. In the excerpt from the guide below, where does the position 133 come from? I'm confused.

I found the answer to this one here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/122507-how-to-workout-teleporting-via-your-log-files/

You beat me to it :) Basicly for coordinate conversion we use this website: http://snuletek.org/arma2coordcalc/. Put it in the log coordinates (the part between the brackets) and click on the arrow pointing right.

Referring to your example of players being teleported by a hacker. Normal players might look like they're teleporting (when they've been teleported), but you'll find out that they only teleport to 1 spot. Teleporting hackers will be all over the map within a small timeframe. It's not sufficient to look at only for example 2 lines in the logs. You need to look at the same player id and a couple of timestamps on that player to be sure you're not going to ban some1 wrongfully ;)

Thanks for the reply and clarification. That makes sense. One last question . . . when I compare two sets of coordinates, how do I convert that to actual distance. For example, the following is an excerpt from the admin guide:

"we can see that his horizontal location was 47.95 compared to his previous horizontal location of 83.11. The time stamps show that the player moved 4km in 1 minute."

How was the 4km calculated?

Thanks again,

Each grid square ingame is 100m.. 100 x 40= 4000m.=4km ;-)

Got it! Thanks again for your help.

I have started using your guide, I have a small issue, when i use DayZ Cheatfinder I dont have as many logs as you did, I am also running a public hive so I don't understand why I have so little. For instance i don't have AddMagazineCargoHold.log whilst you do. I'm sure its an important script so I'm worried if I miss it then a lot of hackers will go by undetected. Thank you for any assistance.

The guide has been written for public servers. I'm not sure if all the logs correspond with the logs from a private hive server :-( Someone else might be able to shine some light on this..

The logs are generated from the battleye filters, install the latest battleye filters from the stick at the top of server general. Try and keep these filters up to date as they are very good at stopping are large percentage of the scum.
