Skickels1ck 8 Posted January 27, 2013 I think it would be an interesting addition to the game if one could track a player using the reaction of the environment around him.1) Tracks : Maybe a player's feet could leave tracks on gravel, sand, dirt or snow (please put snow in :D), it would be relatively easy to follow his movements, as long as you pay close attention, and as long as the player stands on areas where tracks are visible (not on cement, rocks or obstructed terrain). 2) The position of the vegetation around him : If a player's movement could brake branches, move leaves or crush a bush (like when prone, but much more subtle if standing).3) By making the player drop items as he consumes them : like empty soda cans, bullets or empty magazines.4) The reaction of the fauna : Now I don't know how far the standalone has developed animals, but if pigs, goats and cows would start running or make loud noises when a player approaches them, it would force you to be even more careful. Also, maybe you could input visible and audible flocks of birds that fly away when a player comes near them.Note : 1, 2 and 4 should also apply to Zombies and animals, to make it harder. But for this to work, it would be necessary to add ways to avoid being tracked, adding a new thing players should be cautious about.1) Tracks : Covering them up, or making them less noticeable (a special pair of shoes or something).2) Vegetation changes : There is no real way to cover this up, but if the changes to the environment are minor, then it shouldn't be a problem, and should be used essentially to track people at close without direct line of sight.3) Dropped objects : burring them, or simply picking them up again. That would be another advantage of a bigger backpack.4) Fauna reaction : Camouflage to avoid being seen, or just staying low and walking slowly.Note : all of these should disappear relatively quickly.I definitely think this would be a great feature. I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but having it would add some sort of "hunting" dimension to DayZ, and make the danger even greater. Feel free to build upon this idea or correct it.Thanks.
#Sleepy 572 Posted January 27, 2013 Now before anyone says "Use the search bar" I think he did a good job explaining everything and sorting it.
