Suggestion: Bags, Boxes, Bulk Items

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this should be one post or 2-3 but here goes...

Add a 2nd bag/pack for looting. While holding this '2nd pack' you can only use your pistol (with an option to quickly drop your bag and so you can use your main weapon, but anyone can pick up the bag) or flashlight (or however the flashlight system will be). The packs would range in size and type, starting with a grocery bag (6 slots, commonly found in markets) pillowcases (8 slots, found in bedrooms), burlap/canvas sacks (12 or so slots, found occasionally in barns) gunnysacks (16 or so, found on bases/barracks), and dufflebags (like 20 or more slots, very rarely found in residential and military bases, think handheld coyote pack). Would make it 'easier' for scavengers to collect gear and supplies, and load them up into a vehicle (maybe make them take up backpack slots or take up a little less inventory slots than they can carry, but say you cant put them in packs).

*Added*

-being able to pick up ammo boxes (like at crash sites) and carry them off (one hander so can still use a pistol) and use at your base (fill with a little more ammo or set em up like tents or in tents to organize ammo better ((AS50 round in this box, Stanag in this box, ect)) )

Boxes/crates: Make it so you can pick up a box or crate, an example would be going into a hospital, grabbing a box of medical supplies (would have to limit how much can be put int he box so people aren't just stuffing 20 guns in a 1' x 1' x 1' cardboard box) and either carrying it back to your camp or your vehicle to load it up (limits on space, say cant load up a bike with 10 boxes, maybe just one or 2, tie it in with the bags mentioned above). Also add crates occasionally found in the backrooms of restruants/stores/warehouses loaded with bulk food/drinks. These cases could be looted (take one or more items out of them) or picked up and carried. My Idea would be when you pick up a crate or case you would be doing so with both arms and could only use your weapons if you drop the item. This and the above mentioned bags would be a good way to stock up either your camp or your group's base (bags being more acceptable for solo players/survivalists, cases/crates being more for people who have others covering them)

Bulk Items: This would basically just cover items that 'realistically' you couldn't stuff into a pack (like tires, engine parts, main rotors but that's not my decision to make) but maybe save this more for building supplies for player bases. IE you could pick up a sheet of plywood from a pile at a mill and (maybe not run but be hindered slightly movement wise, be HIGHLY visible since your holding a 4'x8' sheet of wood on your back, and of course cant use your weapons) either take them a short distance to a (large enough vehicle) and strap it and possibly more items to the roof (gaz, hatchback, ect) inside (SUV, Van) or truck bed (the pickup, offroads, urals, ect).or the long haul to your base (defiantly not recommended)

I think this would go well in hand with what rocket wants for visible items on your person/vehicle, but also they would have to make it so say you couldn't load a Ural up to the gills with stuff and have 14 guys riding in the back as well (maybe less and less space for passengers as cargo fills up but the cab will always have room for its number of passengers, maybe the sedans and such can load things into the backseat after the 'trunk' is full, losing the back for passenger use).

I kind of like the duffel bag idea, that would definitely be something you could do in real life. But, why not just carry your backpack in one hand, or put a duffel bag on your back? Maybe if backpacks could be used like that as well, and things like grocery bags becoming improvised (and prone to spilling items/bursting open) backpack?

With the crates and bulk items, I totally agree with you. There should be some items that players can't just toss into a vest pouch and keep on strollin', and the cargo space idea for cars is cool too. Beans for you.
