Question about playing on different servers

Hi, I'm new to DayZ and new to these forums, so please be kind for me :)

I've searched, but failed to find any solid piece of information.

I'm playing already with friend on three different servers, and while my character is transfered through all of them I guess they are all using Public Hive.

As we want to play together all the time, I think about playing on other (private) servers, or Namalsk one.

I want to have one character for playing with friend and another to play on private/namalsk server. Is this possible?

I had once a situation, when I changed server (having lee enfield, tools and cooked meat etc.), spawned were I logged off, but with starting loot (backpack, bandage, flashlight and painkillers). When I went back to previous server I still had this same starting loot. I don't want this to happen again when I will come back from Namalsk to Chernarus where my friend is. And I still don't know if this is issue due to Hives, server versions (all were 1.7.4.4 but varied with number after it (currently I play on three 1.7.4.4/99202 servers and everything is okay))

And sorry if there were some topic, but I failed to find any.

you have 3 types of hive

public hive --- shared hive between public servers

shared private hive -- shared hive between the different game hosting providers (viliager/HFB/Dayz.st etc)

private hives -- only on the server you are on

i would stay on the one server when your with you mates or find a group of servers that share the same hive(public/shared hive)

when you play on any other map you will start a new character same hive rules apply you can have both shared hives and private but no public

Yeah, it's clear now, but please correct me if I'm wrong. If I go for Namalsk private server (with private Hive) I will have there one character, but still be able to come back to current servers (I dont know if they are public or shared hive) and still have my current character?

EDIT: It's just because I want to play at times when my friend can't and I don't want to play at that time on same character I play with him.

yes different maps have different hives weather they are shared or private hives
